4" pads on PC7424XP Questions

Buff & Shine has 4" pads with recessed Velcro that fits perfectly on a 3.5" backing plate. They are not low profile, but thinner than most -- I believe they are 1" thick so only 1/8" more than the low profile pads.

I am not crazy about the "thick' 4" LC CCS pads. I'm hoping to get low profile in the future if I can find them. In the meantime the Hydrotech 4" work good for me. Does AG sell 4 X 7/8" pads?

This seems to be part of the problem, finding a variety of either foam 4", or 3" Pads here at AG.

I see no Chemical Guys Pads period on the site? Unless I'm blind, or not looking in the correct place?

Griots, yes, there's the two types of Pads for the Baby 3" Polisher Orange (Polishing), and Red (Waxing) 3" Pads. I understand, according to Griots site, there is also a Black, but this one is MIA on the AG site. (There's also MF Glass pads but I think we are all discussing paint use here, not glass, and stricly speaking of foam pads, not MF))

About all I see available here, are Meguiars 4" Power Pads, and they aren't exactly what I'd call a deal, nor what my local autozone charges for them, which is $14 for two Pads.

As for any others, and availability here on AG, I'm unaware of any others?

I remember a short while back, I beleve Mike Phillps chimed in about availability of low profile foam pads (probably was referring to the LC Hydrotech's), and made mention if I remember of some worries about carrying low profile pads in the 4" size due to possible mishaps occuring with an end user?

I reckon mishaps can occur with any pad, any machine, any process, if the end user doesn't follow good guidlines, and uses such tools in a proper operational fashion.

The lack of a larger availability of smaller pads in both 3", and 4" size is one area which I feel AG lacks in, and would hope in the future that a better selection be available.

Lake County should as well be able to provide if they chose, a flat beveled "low profile" pad in the various colors-agressivnesses in both 3" and 4" size.
I know I seen the low profile 4" HT Pads at Carpro USA I think it was.

I'm one who's raising his hand, and kindly asking "we want more!" :hungry: Mark

I agree AG does not carry many 4" and 3" options.

I called LC today and I believe they said they make the 4" & 3" Low Profile in Hydrotech/CCS/and Flat.

The guy said to call Nick and he might have to make a special order to LC? Sounds like they might have to special make them or that they have them but just don't sell many. I might look into it at some point but the 1.25" seem to cut quite fine for now. Plus more room for error incase the pad bumps up against the paint it will be the side of the pad hitting not the plate!

The griots 3" pads are pretty low profile from what I have seen. Someone had a pic comparing it to a low profile 3" hydrotech and they were almost the same height.

Thanks for the response Mark. This subject has interested me as of late. I don't like going from a thin 5.5" pad to a thick feeling 4" pad. It just feels too "cushy" for lack of a better word. (if cushy is even a word?) :)

I don't like it either. As Mike Phillips says, "Thin is In". But I wonder really how much better a low profile would be. A PC machine should have no problem spinning a 4" 1.25" and might offer more protection between the pad and plate.:xyxthumbs:
