I read somewhere that 4"pads corrected paint faster than the larger 6.5" pads - this was explained due to less friction overall allowing more pressure per inch while maintaining orbital speed. I would assume that larger pads would allow you to cover more area faster, assuming it didn't take forever to correct the problems. Has anyone tried using 4" pads on an entire vehicle? Did it help? Any thoughts or opinions?

People with Cyclos have to use 4" pads. I've used 4" pads on the PC for spot buffing but not the whole vehicle. I have a 4" Edge orange and 4" Edge blue pad. The orange is great for spot buffing and doing glass etc. The blue is ultra soft and makes applying waxes etc with the PC a breeze.

Based on PC use...

Ive used 4" pads on the entire car because either my Edge 6" pads stopped working, or I got so frustrated with them not spinning. Dont really have this problem with LC CCS 6.5" pads though.

How much longer does it take using the 4s instead of the 6.5s?

Not sure if it corrects paint any quicker, but I can see people perhaps putting extra pressure on a smaller pad?

4" pads corrects faster...reason is the smaller pad area transfers more of the machines energy into a smaller area...they spin like a banshee also....and they heat paint fast..you can burn paint with a 4" pad on a PC..and fast ....you do not need the downward pressure on them like a 6" pad..the machines wieght is just fine....

With using common sense you can do a car with 4" pads....I did the nose on my truck last year with 4" pads....time difference I did not track...but for correction issues...in areas where 3-4 passes with a 6.5 inch pad took 2-3 passes at most with a 4"...also for scratch removal..4" is tops...

actually 3M has a 3" system just for scratch removal...

using a 4" pad on a PC just be careful on edges and where you think paint may be thinner..or you may see primer....

Is it possible for me to get a 4" pad for my edge pc?

Edge makes 4" pads that use the same adapter as the PC....they should work perfect with a PC.....
