I've spent $30 (had a discount) on Chem Guys Blacklight soap. In all honesty I could've waited for one of their infamous holiday sales and gone with another gallon of Honeydew for the amazon price (usually $20)

I've read a few good things about McKee's soaps and I am trying that next (Nick owns a Subie like me).

Anyone else use a blower to dry the car followed by a few mf towels for specific sections? I swear by my drymecrazy mf towels after I blow dry the vehicle.

I use cheep soap for preparing vehicles to be corrected etc.

I use a more pH balance or LSP/coating friendly safe soap for maintenance washes. Something like Mckees 37 Sio2 auto wash or Carpro Reset.

I'm always on the lookout for sales, great buys and cheap car wash shampoos. I try to pay less that $20/gal for name brand quality soaps.

I also try cheap soaps that I find (that dont look like water a la Dollar Store) on my dirty old truck.

hyper wash is $26 a gallon (even cheaper when on sale) but you only need 1 ounce per 3-5 gallons of water. so you save money and use less product compared to gold class which is 1 ounce per gallon. i have used several gallons of hyper wash and it cleans well and leaves nothing behind, it's like the johnson's baby shampoo of car care...

He's saying it doesn't have any glossing agents or any waxes in it once you rinse the car. It simply cleans and rinses away. I like soaps like that on my coated cars to ensure nothing messes with the coating.

I don't think it is crazy at all to spend that on a gallon of soap that has a dilution ration of 1:400 probably, maybe more. Especially if you are just a hobbyist, and not trying to feed the family with it. I can certainly understand why a business wouldn't spend that on soap, I wouldn't either, especially since there are good, much cheaper options. Dare I mention D110...

The only soap I've bought so far is a gallon of Chemical Guys Mr. Pink. I think I paid around $28 for it.

Here's the way I look at it:

2oz in a 4gal wash bucket, plus another 3oz in my foam cannon because my PW is a cheapo little electric. That's 5oz per car wash, at 128oz per bottle (not counting any waste, any extra in the foam cannon gets dumped into the wash bucket) that means I get around 26 washes per gallon of soap. That's right around a dollar a wash. Even a crap touchless automatic that will still wreck the finish on my truck is around $8 per wash in my area, so I figure I'm still way ahead.

That of course when I actually do a full foam/soap wash on my truck now because I've been using ONR of late. 1oz:2gal in a pump sprayer and 2oz:4gal in a wash bucket that I use for at least 2 washes, and at $16 per 32oz. it's hard to argue with. At an average of 1.5oz per vehicle, that 32oz gets me 21 washes for $16, or around $0.75 per wash!

I use it at 1 oz. to 2 gallons.

Talking about towels scratching or marring. I'm curious what LSP you use wax, sealant, or coating? While coatings don't offer a huge increase in scratch resistance it's been my experience that they do help prevent light scratching or marring from towels.

My experience with coatings have shown a much improved resistance to scratches and swirls from washing and quick detailing over sealants and waxes.
