48% dont wax their cars

We are indeed a very rare breed and obsess over the our vehicles. While within our group we may appear to be normal we leave the rest of the world scratching their heads wondering what we've been smoking lately.

A large majority of the population knows only of drive through car washes and the products available through retailers like Wal-Mart and Target. This group is very satisfied with a clean finish and by throwing on a coat of Turtle Wax or another over the counter product leaves them smiling.

Look on their shelf and add up the number of products and the amount they've spent then do the same in any one of our garages or shed. They've probably spent $100.00 tops yet most of us are in this for $3000 to $4000 or more!

Swirls? Marring? Holograms? These terms are literally a foreign language to them yet we agonize over the tinniest of imperfection on our daily driver. So you tell me, which group has a better perspective on life......

I am not surprised. People do not think it is important in part due to the clearcoat finishes. They will look pretty good unless you get up close especially the lighter colored cars like silver.

Al that's a great point!

So many times I've heard car salesman tell customers that silver cars don't get dirty anywhere near as fast as other colors...... What a bunch of dopes these guys are!! :bash:

Were I live a lot of cars are not just not waxed they are filty and get no wash at all. We have a new car wash up the street that will wash your car for $3.00, and you can vacuum for free. People think that $3.00 is to much to spend to have a clean car, and even though the vacuums are free ,thats to much work.

I think the fact that we live in a throw away society adds to the disregard folks have toward their vehicles. That and the crap the dealerships have been selling everyone about the "LIFETIME SEALANT" that they overcharge for.
It comes down to education, I think. Getting the truth back into the heads of people, little by little. This website is one great tool toward that goal. Good, educated detailers are another.
