You asked for it and we delivered! Lake Country GOLD Jewelling CCS pads are now available in 5.5, 7.5 and 8.5 inch sizes.

Use the gold pad to apply a very fine polish or glaze as the final step of the polishing process. Jewelling is the term coined for this step because it intensifies gloss and reflectivity, like a jewel. The gold foam pad also works well for wax and sealant application.

Gold has no cut and is the softest LC makes.

Thanks for the info :)

Red also has no cut, so I'm just trying to understand the difference. Is it purely that LC made a way to make gold even softer than the already soft red?

Think of it this way, there are many foam colors available with no cut out there for whatever reason. Don't they have to sell you all of them?

On that note, long time detailing forum readers will remember that the gold pads were originally a Todd Helme/CMA creation/exlcusive.

Everything has a cut.

Think about it, you are putting something on a machine that creates x rpm or x opm and you think there is no cut? Whenever you create friction, it will eventually cut or abrade not matter how minute it is. Now the question becomes which has the least amount of cut. Softer they are, I assume there will be less pressure which will create less friction.

Even water and wind cuts. Think about how Grand Canyon was formed.

Water and Wind didn't cut the Grand Canyon....the abrasives carried by them did.

If you use M105 with a Red Pad....it will cut

You can throw distilled water at something and it will cut provided it is done long enough.

M105 and red pad will cut because of the abrasives in M105.
However, red pad alone will cut as well given enough time.

Now for our purposes, we can say that it will no cut because no one will sit there and put a DA on a paint finish for days on out.

Since the sealants are almost impossible to get completely out of pads, maybe they're just accommodating everyone by having 4 colors that don't cut.

You can use a different color for each sealant that you try. Perhaps they'll even make some more colors, so everyone can keep introducing more products.

We are, however, starting to run out of primary colors.

What happens if I use an Orange pad to apply wax?

Will the pad instill more damage onto the paint?

anyone have an idea on how effective the gold pads are with a DA? Im thinking of getting one pad to try it out on my soft paint, but im not sure how it compares to a black or red pad.

A gold pad will feel "softer" and less dense than a black pad. I really like a black pad if I'm using a finishing polish on soft paint. The LC black pad allows me to apply a little extra pressure if necessary. For LSP application it really doesn't matter which finishing pad I use.

black, red, nor gold has NO cut from what I understand.

I use the blue and red pads for applying waxes and sealants.

white, orange, and black for polishes, compounds etc..
