5.5 vs 6.5 pads

What's the benefits of each? I currently have 6.5 but Im thinking of maybe switching to 5.5
 
I prefer 5.5 I have better control especially with the PC 7424XP, also use on my flex.
 
5.5" pads allow a more concentrated correction which can save time. They also work better on the lesser powered buffers.
 
Ill use 6.5 for lsp products you don't need the correction ability out of, or for small defects. Total car make over, 5.5" for me.
 
6.5" CCS pads came with my PC kit and that's all I used until a 5.5" freebee CCS came with the 16oz wolf twins and man, hands down better to use than the 6.5" pads on my PCXP. It is easier to keep spinning and correcting.

Did it come with a 5" backing plate?
 
Smaller pads get into smaller areas. I do like bigger pads for vehicles that have lots of real estate like full size extended cab trucks. I would get familiar with both and use what is appropriate for each job or what you are most comfortable with. Sometimes using something you have the most confidence in will trump speed.

Yes, a 4 7/8's to be exact. I found my backing plate with the smaller pad was also better in that it didn't have such a large space that the plate wasn't covering. With the smaller backing plate I have and the 6.5" pad, it would deform the pad with the weight of the machine after time. The yellow CCS pad was quicker to do this vs the white pad. It would push down where the backing plate would make contact, but the edges that wasn't making contact would come up. Dont know it that makes sense or not.
