Hi Folks
I am new here and have a BOSCH random orbital sander with a 5" backing plate. As I am not situated in US and wanted to save on freight. I had juz ordered the 6pack set of 6.5" last weekthought it was recommeded size for 5" backing plate from the product page) Hopefully it will not overkill the obrital sander - resulting overheating or under power? As a new hope it is not "oversized" for me to handle.. still pending for shipment. wish me luck!
Arrhh.. should have read this thread before I proceed with my purchase.
Lets hope the Bosch "wood sander" has enough power to rotate a pad under pressure.
I've been through these types of questions on different wood sanders and here's the thing, there's a zillion orbital wood sanders on the market and they can all spin a thin sanding discs but they cannot spin a foam buffing pad. What they more or less do is jiggle and vibrate the pad and you can apply wax with jiggling and vibrating but you cannot remove swirls.
Take heart though... because the Bosch orbital sander might work, you'll just need to go out into your garage and do some testing.
Update us after you do some testing and let us know how it goes?
