5 inch backing plate

I recently purchased a Griots Garage 3rd Generation.

Would a 5 inch backing plate be too powerfull for this machine. It actually feels more powerfull then my meguiars machine.

Should I stick with 6 inch pads since that is what Griots sells.

Not at all. It's a good move to use 5.5" pads.
