Wow, thanks for the effort in comparing all of these. I only have some 845 but definitely open to picking up some of the WG stuff in the future. Looking forward to more updates!

476 shines as good but lasts longer. Slightly more difficult to remove but the key is just to do one panel at a time and buff off. Not difficult to remove at all but not as easy as 845.

What's I need the most only number 1
2 and 3 just good if I have it

1- less Dust attractive (anti static - dust repellent)

2- Slickness (easier for cleaning with California duster)

3- Water beading (I don't know why I need it no rain over here maybe once a year ) but maybe good for washing the car

No worries.

I haven't really noticed a difference in resistance to dust as it's the rainy season here and I can't go more than 2 days without getting rained on.

For the most part though, once the water dries on the trunk, the collinite and wolfgang have noticeably less "stuff" still on their particular panels.

I'll keep an eye out for it and provide an update if something is noticed.

I don't see why not. A lot of people have put a "sacrificial" layer of LSP on top of a coating in an effort to extend the life of it.

I say go for it!
 
In my experience with two cars side by side in the garage (garage queens), the 845 attracts more dust than the Powerlock. The other cars outside, I don't notice any difference as the rain washes away the dust.
 
Hey AGO!!!

Well, it's been 3 weeks since I washed the car because of horrific weather conditions. Finally, I had a great day yesterday to clean her up and check the status of the LSP's.

Just so everyone can see, the test area gets ANNHILATED by the elements and birds. Here are pictures showing the trunk from the right and left side... I must warn you, these images are graphic:

Well... things are starting to die off dramatically.

Hydrophobic properties are diminishing greatly across the board, and it seems the only one really standing up decently well is Wolfgang. In addition to the visual properties, their is a noticeably slicker feel when cleaning the paint as I run over the Wolfgang section. Not as slick as a coating feels, but not nearly as "grabby" as all the other sections.

I always used Collinite as my go-to, but it seems I will be switching it up to Wolfgang given what these tests have revealed.

As always, if you have any questions specifically about the results that I might be able to answer, feel free to fire away

It seems like they really lose the nice round beads rather quickly..I'm rather surprised by how much less round and even the water beads are.
 
When you put the water on to do that final water beading test, how do you spray the water on there? With a nozzle using the shower setting? Spray bottle? Or?

and how do things look when you sheet the water off? Do the areas sheet quikly? Or rather slow?

Small Walgreens spray bottle with a squeeze trigger. 16 sprays per section, starting from the top to bottom, and then bottom to top, 8 sprays each way.

Sheeting is NOT something I have been looking at, but would be more than happy to perform a flooding of the trunk lid during my next go round' in a couple of weeks.
 
Spray the panel with a hose nozzle on "shower" setting and show the what the beading looks like then.. No fluff. Meaning as is photos no matter if there's beads left or not.

Beading from a spray bottle is such a controlled way to look at water behavior. It's no surprise there's beading at this point.. But in the real world water doesn't come down on a vehicle like that.

I wasn't surprised to see Collinite in the top 3 (predicted it). I am, however, surprised that it wasn't in the top 2 spot. For sure I thought PL would be first, Col second, and WG taking up the last position. Boy was I surprised to see it leading the pack.

Don't have a shower setting on my nozzle, so that's out. I'll try to mimic it as much as I can though.

You are right, it is a controlled way to look at water behavior, and that is simply because that's what I'm trying to accomplish. The amount of sprays, distance of the sprayer, and sprayer angle all play into this. If I spray right against the panel on one product, and back away on the other, the panel that has more distance from the nozzle will allow separation of water to become more apparent, thus potentially allowing it to bead in an easier manner.

Either way, I'll try to capture a shower setting style spray, and if I can't get something like that, I will for sure capture sheeting.
 
First of I appreciate the work you are doing, this test is awesome. I bookmarked this thread from the beginning but didn't have time to say thank you. I have three of tested LSPs : 845, PL and WDGPS. The PL is my favorite, I just love Powerlock for the looks (and longevity) on a soul red Mz 3. There are a few cars in my hood exactly the same color, but I can spot my car from the distance. This untreated color mostly looks like a ripped tomato but applying PL I could achieve a ripped cherry effect with similar gloss and 3D pop. I don't like 845 for tendency to leave waterspots and was not memorized by WDGPS. So, now what I've done for the most recent application I mixed PL (2 drops) & WDGPS (2 Drops) on a sponge applicator, the achievement is great appearance and no deterioration for 3 months with weekly D114 maintenance.

You're right, it would be pretty hard to get an equal sample any other way.. I guess I'm just itching at the thought of what that panel looks like during a good rainstorm.
 
Wow, thanks for the updates. It seems like they're all still protecting. Just that the beading isn't as tight. I like 845 as my go to like a lot of other people. I think 2 coats of 845 is definitely the trick to long lasting protection.

You're welcome! I'm happy to do the testing, but I just want to make sure everyone knows that the conditions my vehicle are seeing may NOT replicate theirs. This is fun for me!

I'll capture it after some rain next time it does... I mean... it is FL :)

Depending on when it rains (since the last time it was washed), we may or may not see the impact the product is having as the only barrier on the paint... But who knows!

You're welcome! So far, yes they all seem to have something left in them, but slickness is noticeably different with the Wolfgang. I know it sounds like I am biased because I keep mentioning it, but I was really pulling for Collinite as that has been my go to!



If anyone has anything they want me to try and capture on my next update specifically, please let me know!
