6 LSP's go head to head!

Add me to the list of people surpised by the performance of the Collinite.

In the past, I've had 845 go through six months of winter neglect, grime and touchless washes and still bead better than you test area of the Wolfgang.

Although not tested FK1000p will out perform collinte and it's $17.

I was very surprised by Collinite as that has always been my go to sealant. I never really let it go through a true longevity test because I would re-apply about every 2 months.

Interesting - I've never given much thought to FK1000p, but would be interested in trying it out!

Hey AGO!!!

So, I decided to shake things up with this update and instead of beading tests, I ran sheeting at the request of some forum members. This car hasn't been washed for 3 weeks, and this wash was done via the 2BM with a foam gun pre-soak using Megs Hyperwash. Please excuse my finger in the middle of the video, this is a new phone to me and I'm still getting used to handling it without lens disruption.

Here is the video:

The vehicle is parked on my driveway which has a slight downwards angle towards the front of my car. No tilt to either side.

You can see in the video, the best sheeting action by a long shot is occurring on the side where WGDGPS (furthest to the right) & Powerlock (Immediately to the left of WGDGPS) are.

As always, if you have any questions, please let me know!

I have been a PL and 4*UPP fan, but my first recent use of WGDGPS made me a convert with total enthusiasm. The shine, bead, and longevity are as good as I have ever seen. I love the fact that application is easy, and it dries clear so no going crazy to get it out of cracks and crevices after application.
No question --- it is my go to. My strongest recommendation.

Very interesting... IMO all 6 are officially toast. If and when my paint reacts like that I consider it the danger zone and and an open invitation for contaminants to bond to the paint. Re apply now or look forward to a failed baggie test in the near future.
Thanks for doing the tests.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm curious if all, some or none are passing the baggie test today... I wouldn't doubt it if the majority, if not all have allowed contaminants to begin bonding to paint at this point.. Because from the looks of that last water test, those sealants might've been gone for anwhile now.

I would agree that things are definitely dwindling down. I would have to say that WGDGPS and Powerlock are the clear leaders in this category based upon this test.

I'll run the baggie test on my next go round and report back, and maybe do one final beading test to see how they stack up.

To me, 15 weeks is about as good as things will get given the conditions this car had to deal with, and I'm really happy with the results from WGDGPS and Powerlock... The elements and conditions were stacked against all these products for sure. Non-garage kept vehicle, applied in the middle of summer in Florida, and to a vehicle that gets hammered by birds was quite the test of longevity in my opinion.

Cool. And yea you're right about the conditions.. Me personally, based on that last water sheeting test, I would've called this fight a long time ago. It's like beating a dead horse at this point.. Asking the fighters to come out for round 15, but it was actually scheduled for 12 rounds. Lol.

Now the curiosity is when did they actually start losing it if a water sheeting test like you did had been regularly done from the beginning.. I think that would've given you more precise results to display.

Either ways it's always interesting to run these sort of tests, so it's not like it wasn't good and worth checking out. I like doing things like this as well.

Thank you for your quick reply

I already added Wolfgang to my wish list in Amazon after reading your review

You should sign up for newsletter/e-mail at wolfgangcarcare.com as well as follow their Facebook page. Many deals come that way that don't hit AG site...last week was 25% off w/ free shipping...

I would like to add my thanks for the time and effort as well! I had already purchased WGDGPS just before you began your test, and finally applied it two weeks ago.

I was skeptical about the cost - but consider me a convert at this point!!

Thanks Natewood for your time and effort with this testing! Appreciated!

Natewood, thanks a lot for your work on this. I find it incredible that 845 didn't hold up that well. It needs a do over. LOL

Fully agree. Tests like this are interesting because people get such widely different results.

Here is a head-to-head I did with Klasse SG and 845 a couple years ago and noted totally different results than what is documented here.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/71873-head-head-cage-match-klasse-sg-vs-collinite-845-a.html

I've said it before, but it would be really interesting for two members in the same climate, with similar upkeep routines, and identical products to do a test like this. I bet they would still be different!

845 is a go to LSP for a reason. It's an amazing product. A double coat of 845 is killer.

You're welcome everyone!

The climates will for sure play a huge factor AND the paint color in my opinion. Darker colors will get much hotter in the sun than a lighter color.

I was surprised with Collinite as well since that has been my go to, but for my car, in my location, WGDGPS or Powerlock seems to be the way to go. Perhaps given the conditions WGDGPS or Powerlock will out perform Collinite where you are as well, but I can't speak to things like Winter prep and competing with salt on the road and what not.

Also... I should mention that I'm very disappointed in the performance of HD Poxy. For liquid sealants (as opposed to the spray) I don't think you can really go wrong with Collinite, WGDGPS, or Powerlock. For me, any of those will work as I am constantly applying a spray wax on top of a pre-existing sealant layer, but for long term of JUST a sealant, the crown goes to Powerlock and WGDGPS at this point with an slight edge given to WGDGPS.

Yep good advice. I saw that one and got WGLS which was already on sale $10 off, then I got the extra 25% off and free ship on top of that.
