70 hour restorative detail on my '02 Z06 - Immaculate Reflections

Wow that's one of the most detailed write-ups I've read to date. It really shows the passion you have for detailing. That's a nice ride you got too. I love the color. Red is my favorite color and it really shines well when properly polished as you've shown in this thread.

Amazing job as always Jeff!

Kudos to the time put in! I cant wait until I can get my hands on a garage queen to play with!

Wow. Now that's a detail! Perfect! Thanks for the write up.:xyxthumbs:

Wonderful!

I have never seen a brand new Corvette look that good. And I have gone with a friend to pick up his factory delivery Corvette. And it had a couple of tiny swirls on it.

When it's your own car it's so much fun to be able to spend whatever amount of time YOU feel is required to perfect it. No customer or wife asking "when will it be done"

I really liked the part where you described removing that emblem and the flush mount light kit.

I bet you could get a perfect score at Bloomington. Maybe even "Benchmark" status.

Truly impressive, what an intense paint correction session!Very admirable dedication and work ethic!

Holy crap!

That is amazing! I dont think there is a 10 year old car anywhere on the planet that looks that good!

Unbelievable! Thanks for taking the time to document each area and the process used. It really helps us less experienced.

I have the exact same car! 02 Torch Red Mod Red Z. Picked it up last September with 19k miles on it. It was in really good shape. I brought it home and detailed it and thought it looked good but yours is SUPERB!! Awesome work. I would never have thought of taking the lights out to detail behind them. I did however take the tag off and clean behind it but not nearly like yours. I will borrow your idea and pull the taillights and polish them.

Excellent work.

very nice work ... an amazing transformation. Attention to details indeed !

seperate note : it appears they lowered your car on factory bolts. Have you measured them to make sure they are even, the front spacing looks a bit larger than rears. Also if you have never had a C5 before, invest in some jacking pucks and also front rail protectors, your gonna need them while riding low.

Nice work. What is the steamer that you use? I'm looking to get one to clean the same spot.

Simply beautiful.

Thank you

Your love for detailing cars shows. Exceptional work. More important..it is so cool to hear you tell your Dad "I love you..." makes it all that much better!

Thank you very much. Both the detail on his car and mine were special and that moment really came together when we shot a few pics of the cars together.

You can probably turn around and sell your car for 5k-10k more than what you paid for it.

I'm jealous on two counts. Obviously the Z06 but also the opportunity to spend 70 hours on a car with no budget restrictions. That is truly what is possible.

Great job. Seriously.

I'm not sure it would add that much value, but if someone makes me an offer I can't refuse I'll probably take it. Thank you very much :)

great work! love the red. car looks brand new now! thanks for taking time to share!

Thanks!

truly beautiful work, I envy your commitment to the craft. I can't wait til I can park my car for good and spend this much time on it to fully bring it back.

Thank you!

Red is my favorite color! Great write up are those Husky light you got there? Chevy runs deep!:props:

Thank you! Yes they are Husky lights (one is burned out....terrible reliability, but NO ONE makes reliable lights).

Chevy does run deep! I'm a Chevy Boy. So much that a wonderful gal I dated MADE this for me

Great write up. Beautiful car. I test drove one of the blue and silver special edition ones a few years back. It had the Borla exhaust. It was loud (but sweet). People were snapping their necks at every intersection I took off from.

Thanks! The Borla was SUPER loud with the Longtubes, so I swapped it out for the TI exhaust and am much happier.

Jeff,

One of the finest tutorials I've seen that walks the reader through each step illustrating the time and care taken to achieve such stunning results... A great selection of products and equipment!!

Since I too have a C5 Z06 I've booked marked it for reference when I tackle mine!

Tremendous work!!

Bobby, thank you so much. You represent the C5Z guys well and I didn't want to let ya down! Its been a little while since I've gone this in-depth with a writeup so it was time to again and what better car than my own? I don't always share my products/process and this bothers some...but this IS my business afterall that has to support me. So there is a wealth of info listed here for folks to learn off of. That Griots 3" was pivotal to this job, very worthwhile tool to have for obvious reasons.

Great Job

thanks

Amazing work Jeff. I am sure you are thrilled with the new purchase. Any mods planned??

Thanks Pat! I was going to do Forgestar f14 wheels, Michelin Cup tires, C6ZR1 brakes and coilovers, but have decided to leave it with the mods it has as I'm looking into houses in the fall and maybe a C6Z later this year if I can.

UH-MAY-ZING!!!!! This was an outstanding job! You really paid attention to detail on this! Awesome job...awesome pics...and glad you shared time with your dad. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much. It was rewarding sharing it with my dad.

That's awesome. I never would have thought about cleaning under the lights. Great job with a supercar!

Thanks! I'm not quite sure its a supercar, but it sure is super fun to drive!

Holy cow!!! You ARE the man!!! :props:

I really loved my 03 z06! Welcome to he club! :righton:

Thank you Mark

Wow, excellent job.:props:

Spending this much time on your own vehicle is really worth it. You can stand back and look at what you accomplished, both the hard work you put into your vehicle and the hard work you did that enabled you to get it.

It was a long haul and there were times if I wondered if it was going to be worth it.....in the end it was. :) Thank you.

Congrats on the purchase, and all the hard work that went into restoring her finish! I had an 03 yellow ZO6 some years back. To this day it's one of my favorites out of all I've owned.

Brian

Thanks Brian! It is a FUN car! It may not be quite as powerful as my 625hp Z28 I had, but its WAY more fun all around.

You've made me want a Z06 even worse than before. Awesome work and beautiful car!!! Congrats on getting it! Glad you're loving it!!

Thanks! Those were 2 subtle changes (albeit one of them returning to stock) but made a world of difference in the appearance.
Pretty impressive work

I wouldn't go that far, but I am happy it looks this good :)
