Ok Newbie here. I have been detailing my cars for alot of years and my arms are just saying NO in my old age. I only want to do this once and I want to do it right. If $$$ were not a concern which machine would you buy that you have used. I know most of you have PCs but has anyone used Cyclo or the new Makita BO6040 (which has a switch to turn it from an orbital to rotating).

I would also like to know which pads you would go with. I will be doing some swirl removal. but mostly wax on wax off or sealant on sealant off. I have 4 vehicles to keep up and I am ready to start doing this the easy way.

Your oppinions Please and give a reason for your oppinion.
Thanks

Hi lt2, and welcome! :awesome:

The Makita isn't worth it IMO, because the buffer part of it doesn't have enough RPM's to really remove severe stuff a PC can't handle. It is nice to just "switch" from buffer to PC though.

The Metabo is the "Mercedes" of buffers. I wouldn't recommend a buffer with out some good PC experience.

The PC 7424 is an excellent machine and many will agree with me here.

I would recommend the EDGE pads, others will recommend the LC pads. I like the EDGE pads because they are double sided, mount and center very easy.

Take care..

7424 or 7336 for Dual Action

Cyclo -- moving to the Cadillacs of orbitals (no speed sensitivity however)

and finally a rotary as needed. Still use mine less than 2 times per year.

Don't own either one yet but heard good things 'bout the Festool 150 and the DeWalt 443. If money is no object I read recently the Festool is very expensive approx. $400 but has more stength than the PC and can cut at a faster rate too. Just recently been looking at the DeWalt but haven't really read anything good or bad yet.

the 7336 and 7424 will be your best bet, for price and effectiveness. its easy to use, requires no maintenance under normal use, and its very reliable. many on this board use this machine, and rightfully so.

as for pads, I use the LC pads, but will probably be switching to the Edge2K system or maybe the CCS, just to try something new, especially after all of the good things I have been reading about them.

:iagree: 100%. The Metabo is an awesome machine, the lightest rotary you will see and the craftsmanship is un beatable. But I would start off with a PC get some experience and then move on to the rotary.

From what I have been reading his is that the Cyclo is the Cadillac for a DA, and it works well. One benefit about the Cyclo is that it won’t vibrate as much as the PC. Trust me that's a bonus, your hands will love you for it.

As for pads, I agree Edge 2K pads are wicked but the Lake Country pads are good as well. Bang for your buck though I'd go with Edge 2K pads. Just my opinion though.

Hope it helps.

Thanks guys I went with a PC and the Lake pads. It was delivered today. Guess I know what I'll be doing over the weekend.
Thanks
