So a friend of mine had my come over because he wanted me to get some rubbing compound marks out of the hood of his Grand National. I started working on the hood and after looking at the rest of the paint I saw that it was heavily swirled. I decided to go ahead and do the whole car!
This car had been repainted years ago and the clear coat was very soft. Run your finger along it and you can see the scratches.

Products used:

Turtle wax Ice car soap
Cobra chenille wash mitt
Leaf blower to dry
Cobra Guzzlers to finish drying

Porter Cable 7424xp
Lake Country 5.5 orange pad
Menzerna Power Finish
Cobra Miracle Microfibers
Poorboys Black Hole
Menzerna Power lock
Ultima trim and tire Guard Plus

Unfortunately I didn't get any before pictures because like I said, I was only going to do the hood. You will get an idea of what it looked like before.

Unfortunately the sun was going down so I didn't get to get any really good sun shots. Oh well

Great work on the details! Is this a GNX clone or is this the real deal? If that's a real GNX that car is worth so much money. I love the GNX. The motors in them were amazing for V6s. now if GM would just put a Turboed 6 in a new Camaro. That would be a great seller IMO.

Thanks
No, it's not a GNX. I wish lol. I think ther is only like 150 of them left. I have seen one before, but that's it. It is still a very nice car and I wouldn't mind having one.

Great looking car!
As far as Ford is concerned, I understand that they are going to be moving away from the big V8 engines in the Mustang replacing them with Ecoboost V6's.

GM already has a turboed 6 but they're focusing more on a smaller v8 to achieve more horse and better gas mileage.

No thats not a GNX ... look to the missing side ports on the front. Look at the wheels/rims, and look to the motor for a unique Turbo cover. There was also a difference in the painting process. Around 547 GNX's were made and many fell into hands of collectors.

The real interesting story on these GN's is that the government bought alot of them at one time for use during the last two (86 and 87) years of production.

wonderful job on an ageless beauty! hard to believe the power those little 6's developed. a lot of stoplight V8's learned a hard lesson!

congrats!

What do you mean by "the Government"? I know the CT state police were rumored to have some (as well as a lot of other sneaky unmarked cars), but this was at the time the CHP was actually running marked Camaros as pursuit cars. We were lucky here in NJ at that time as for about a decade we had a superintendant of the state police who didn't believe in marked cars...but those days are sure gone.

EDIT: Did I say Camaros?? Or was it Mustangs? Or both?

The state police here in Indiana are running unmarked Mustangs. These cops are the worst of the worst. They'll get you for anything if you have a nice car. They gave me a ticket for my windows being too dark. Not even a warning. They let other people off with warnings.

Look at it from the cop's perspective--they hate dark tint, when they approach the car they can't see if they are about to get their head blown off.

Thanks guys... This one is a little quicker than stock. He just dropped a new engine in with a few upgrades. We cruised around town to put some miles on the motor. It has about 20 miles on it so far.

Yea but they don't pull you over and give you a ticket unless you have a nice car. If you have an older car, even if you've been in trouble with the law before, they'll let you go with a warning even if their windows are darker than the nicer car. I've never been in trouble before, never been rude to an officer. I've only been pulled over once and that was for speeding a little over, but I was never given a ticket for it because it was a nicer state trooper.

What can I tell you? If you drive a high-profile car you have a high profile, and you attract attention. I know you wish it was just the girls and the envious dudes, but it's going to be the cops, too.

check out this GN. Turn it up!
