My friend picked up this Firebird for a heck of a deal. I was just gonna do a quick one step on it for him, to give it a little shine, but after I drove it, I knew I had to do more. It rode and drove so well, I figured I would really suprise him with something special.

Sorry I didnt get any before pics. I didnt really think I would be doing this much to it. I am horrible at picture taking, so my apologies. I figured some of you might get a kick out of how bad this paint was when i started. It was a single stage BTW.

Process:
Washed
Clayed
Washed
Menz power gloss+PFW+Flex3401 x 4
Menz power finish+LC Orange pad+Flex3401
Menz 106FA+LC White pad+Flex3401
Collonite845+LC Black pad+PC
Dodo Blue Velvet

Car still had lots of RID's left, but I would have had to go through the metal to get all of them. Needless to say, guy was super excited when i brought it back to him. :D

Looks great! That was a very kind gesture!

I do freebies too and I can never just do a one step on them. Even though that's what I plan to do before I start polishing.

Wholly Transformation Batman! LOL

I bet he was one happy fellow! Great job! Looks sweet! :goodjob2:

Good job. What a turn-around. Easy to see why he was super excited.

I bet he #### his pants. Just wow, you sir are a good friend. I can imagine the smile both of you had when he saw it! I know I would be grinning ear to ear!

Also how did you like the blue velvet ?

Yeah, he kept accusing me of painting it. Even though I only had it for 4 days at the house. LOL

I have a few of dodo's hard waxes. The blue velvet it nice. You can spread it super thin, and it leaves a nice deep gloss. In all honesty though, I prefer to work with Natty's blue/red better. Its not that Dodo is hard to apply or remove.. I just think the Natty's are even easier. But for durability, which this car desperately needs,I chose Dodo.

that was very cool of you to do for a friend!

awesome work and great looking car!

I am having a total Night Rider flashback here. Way to go!:dblthumb2:

Incredible.

Your buddy owes you big time.

Don't want to hi-jack the thread but a friend of mine owns First Stop Auto Repair in Albany Oregon and one day I stopped by and there was a 1967 Firechicken in the shop to have the tired old motor replaced. It had the original light blue metallic paint job... 100% dull, flat and oxidized. I asked Glen if I could buff it out and he said yes, so after they closed at 5:00pm I stuck around and spent the entire night buffing it out till is glistened like it was new again. At 8:00am when everyone was showing up for work I gathered my stuff up and went home to bed. Never saw the car again, never met the owner. Just had fun buffing out an old car.

:)

No worries on the highjacking. I think you hit the nail on the head. While I like doing it for a friend, I think I got the most enjoyment taking something that no one thought could be saved, and making it look great again. There is more satisfaction there, then if it would have been a paying job. I just LOVE the afterwards, when you sit back, pop open a cold beverage, and just look at what you have accomplished! Its a great feeling!!

After that, I think it would be more along the lines of several cold beverages. Im the MAN

Truly amazing transformation. It's hard to compare the before and the after. It really looks like you snuck the car into the paint shop.

Very nice job and friend! :dblthumb2: I hope your friend takes better care of it now.
