A Chicagoland get together?

Well let's start the "committed list", now this is a list for people looking to get together and do this, we're all COMMITTED to some degree, right! BTW, an AG sponsored meet would make it more legit but I believe we can pull it off either way, w/o sponsorship would really be cool because WE all did it but if AG got involved, well, that just adds to the legitness (not a word, yes I know)

I am in if it is run like the bootcamp. i want to learn things I don't already know in a classroom type format, otherwise it's like a random car meet to me

I agree because its the best of both worlds, real world learning as well as a car meet, what else could you want! If a dedicated shop were to host it, its not like his/her shop is going to lose money showing everyone tips of the trade, infact, you'd be getting some legit pub from hosting the event, lots of pics with your banners all around and spreading the word about the shop, its not like everyone here wants to detail other peoples car to make extra money, so IMO its a win win for EVERYONE involved.

I see this being run "kinda" like the boot camp, I mean I have no problem bringing my own stuff to do a section of a car, I've got items available from AG in my collection and honestly, doing the front of a car persay, well, that's not using up too much product anyways and besides, we wanna do this for someone who deserves it but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it, that would be the fun part!

I get what you are looking to do, I on the other hand would love to attend the bootcamps, but it's just not pheasable to go to Florida to do it.I would like to see Mike and the AG crew take the bootcamp on the road. I bet it would be a huge hit. And maybe give the hosting shops free Gift cards to AG depending on the attendance. Maybe like 50 per person to the hosting shop. Then if AG is smart, they travel with a trailer of goodies to sell and showcase with no shipping for attendies.

^^ I was just trying to get a couple guys together to work on some cars and maybe learn a thing or two along the way and hang out and check out each others cars, you know, put a face with a (screen) name. I'm sure that the AG crew aren't going to load up the truck and come out to Chicago, they've got a business to run and they'd have to sell a ton of stuff, charge alot more than $600 for 2 days to make it even worth while. My plan, which I mentioned in the first thread, is a bit more "grass roots" and would combine a car meet with an actual activity, so my hopes would be that a shop would step up to help us out or even someone with a shop that isn't for detailing but we'd be able to use it for that for the day.

I think our interest level is picking up here, we'll get it sorted.

I drive through your town on my way to work, screw those tolls, I go up to Roosevelt via Belmost/Findley, then over to 53, on my way to Army Trail and back on the "free"-way!

Tim, post some pics from your stable, you've got some nice rides there for sure! BTW, any chance I could take a spin in your ride, I've never driven a Z06.....you could in turn take my 2 seater for a test drive, LOL!

I actually live within a few miles of the 53/Roosevelt intersection. I'll work on getting some photos together of the cars! Still waiting on an opti coat day to come along for my wifes Camry and I'm constantly driving both of my toys so they're unfortunately dirty quite often (or at least what people around here consider dirty!!). I'll take some nice pictures in the next few days and post em up!

Oh, and the Z06... It's as fun as advertised.

Also, if my user name didn't give it away - name is Tim.

I'm in Streamwood now but moving to Carpentersville in mid July but hell yeah i'm in. If we get a AG bootcamp here I will bring my wifes black on black 650i drop top 6 speed to detail.:dblthumb2:

Please add your own name to this list if you're truly interested in attending. It will be must easier to keep track of.

Can we agree that weekends are best? How does the end of July work for most people?

I'm interested , a novice or hobbiest with minimal experience looking to learn. Florida is to far for a bootcamp for me and I wish we had a place like AGO in the Chicagoland area.

I am definitely in. I've been hoping that there would be an AG road show or something similar, this will be awesome.

Remember guys/gals, if your wanting to go, copy and paste your name on the list, makes things alot easier and keep the count correct, thanks. We've got someone willing to hook us up a place to do this but he wants to see how serious everyone is, just sayin'. I guess once we get a good amount of people on the list and the person steps forward to offer us the spot, we can then pic the actual date, its more than likely going to be on a Sunday if I had to guess, just throwing that one out there. Any input you guys have, by all means, post away!

Come on everybody. I think we'll need more than 10 to make this happen.
