I am getting a one-day break from the 40's in the northeast for a 58 degree day tomorrow. i was looking for a few tips on applying wgdgs 3.0 cause i can never keep the slickness

when do you know when to wipe off?
does a swipe test apply here when it fully dries?
how far will 5 drops of wax go on a foam pad 4 dr sedan? i don't want to overaaply or underapply
is there a big difference if i can let it cure in a garage for 8 hours instead of 12? will i gain anything with a shortened cure time?
last time i applied it was wicked slippery, but after rain storm, i lost all slickness. any guess why that happened?


i will be washing/drying car then applying wgdgs with a DA polisher. megs g110

Howdy, Yes, the swipe test applies here with this product. If memory serves me correctly, they suggest a 40-45 minute initial cure after applying.

If I was applying by hand, which I like, and prefer to do, not with a machine, I'd say once you've applied to the entire car, take a 10 minute break, have a sip or two from a refreshment, and then resume another walk-around, taking off in the order you applied it.

WGDGPS 3.0 is not in any way a sensitive product where you'll have problems with basically anyway you choose to apply it, super thin, or not so thin. Going a little heavy only just wastes a little product, nothing more, so don't worry much about it. Drying time might increase by a few minutes longer by applying it heavy is all.

I would say if temps are reasonable and not too cold, you should see good results doing the swipe test at the 45 minute mark, and be good to go with removal.

Now, as for the "12 hour cure time". I have no idea how the folks in the know that developed and tested this product came to this number, but I'm sure there was legitimate reasons for such.

What it sort of says to me, is better to err on a longer time, rather than shorter if you can. I've noted with this Sealant that after you remove it, it looks beautiful, but that's just the beginning, and that as hours pass, it looks even better yet!

If being applied to a nicely prepped paint free of swirls and nasties (contaminants), the paint then further takes on a highly reflective dripping wet candy apple look to it. That of all the wipe on and wipe off Sealants I've ever used, I'd have to rank this Sealant Numero Uno. Yep, the very best of all. I even think it edges Menzerna Powerlock all around which I have bought and used.

No harm or foul if you wish to machine apply it. Just use the softest Pads, and have fun! There are times where a machine can better apply a product, massaging it in nicely to the paint, where you get very even uniform looking end results with no evidence of ghosting-streaking.

As always, and with any products I use such as this one, I'll typically use a couple good MF Towels for initial wipe-off, but then rest a few minutes, and then come behind and have one good clean towel for the final walk-around and finishing wipe.

I just applied Wolfgang DGPS this weekend and I used a machine to apply it. I let it sit for about 20 minutes before it flashed and I removed it with Griots wax removal towels. I used to hand apply all sealants and waxes but I am a recent convert to machine application. My Griots G3 with a Lake Country 3.5" black pad spreads a nice even layer and a little product goes a long way.
The cure time is around 10-12 hours but I was able to put the truck in the garage for 24 hours just to be safe. The sealant usually lasts me around 6 months. I use Wolfgang Uber as a drying aid after my washes and it seems to help.

The “Swipe Test” has become the standard
bearer for dryness determination.

I can’t begin to even try to correctly guesstimate
how far that 5 drops of any Wax (or Sealant in
this scenario) will go on any type of vehicle.

Just remember to apply WDGPS 3.0 as thinly
as possible. Using the DA will facilitate in
accomplishing that task.

I doubt that by lessening the cure-time from
12 hours to 8 hours will provide for any gain.
Quite the opposite, IMO.

8 hours of cure-time ain’t bad; but 12 hours of
cure-time is better; much, much better—that is:
if wanting to achieve the maximum benefits, that
this Sealant has to offer, is the goal.

I might be able to take a stab. Even then,
it’s probably just that—a guess.
1.) Initial amount of moisture-free Cure-time?
2.) Elapsed time between the end of product’s
cure-time and the rain event?
3.) Was the Sealant, itself, contaminate-free:
before, during, and after the rain event?

The DA made a huge difference. Never will use by hand

Also waited 2 hours. It doesn’t harden when dry like Carnauba but is dry enough for clean swipe test. I will wait longer than 45 in future.

I think the slickness will be better with this app. Cross fingers
