Hey there,

I would like to include in my detailling bag a good plastic and headlight polish.

What should I get?

I tried Mother plastix, worked O.K but took me like 45 minutes to do a cluster plastic cover... Any better product?

Thank a lot!!

Having used mostly Meguiar's products, I use PlastX and if needed, use Meguiar's M105 by hand on occasion.....

These taillights were done with M105 by hand followed by PlastX if I remember correctly.....

They were pretty dull to start with.....

Iceman...

how did you apply the PlastX???

How long have they stayed looking good after you polished them?

So we're talking about this product? (LINK REMOVED)

I also have SSR2.5. I could try both product! Thank

Meg's Ultimate compound is a diamond in the rough by hand.

Try the polishes you already have on hand, I've used SIP on my head lights and it worked great.

I would suggest using Plexus or DP Plexall on new lights from the start. To date never really needed to polish them. For plastic polishing in general I use a product called Novus ...

Depending on the severity of the headlamps. I really like the UC/SwirlX combo with a 3" pad on a drill. Then finish it with either PlastX or another applicable plastic polish.

So I did 5 headlight with SSR2.5 with a wool pad then PlastX with a White pad + 1 layer of Klasse Sealant.

Look very nice on all of them.

Using by hand cut down the time??

With my rotary it's a 10 min job.

I actually like a drill and a backing plate and spot buff pads over the PC. Small area on a headlight lens and often awkward landscape around a headlight. The oscillating is a little out of control and the nubs on some headlights will eat a sponge pad up. The drill is easy and is not shaking, I thinkit offers more control. For the Abrasive, I use Meguiars Plastx.

He is saying the rotary cuts it down to a 10 min job compared to the DA
polisher. The drill, which is the same principle, with a 3 1/2 inch spot buff pad is what I use. The smaller size of the drill and the smaller pad is much more manageable tool for this job. To each his own. That is why the forum is so helpful. To expose different ideas and you can try them to find the most productive procedure for yourself.

Cool ! I might also try MINI PowerBall. what do you think about that? Is the foam of the powerball enought ''sharp'' to polish exhaust tip and headlight?

Meguiars Miniball was the first thing I was using. I had a Polishin Pal and a 3 inch backing hook and loop backing plate and a drill adapter froma kit I bought from Harbor freight for another use. I tried it and bingo. My tool of choice for that job. I am going to order the Lake Country backing plate and drill adapter from AG. I have a lot of uses for the small backing plate and spot buff pads. The LC and drill adapter from AG is much better quality that my Harbor Freight kit.
The Mini ball is great for wheels.
