I had 5 vans to get washed up yesterday after finishing up a Mustang GT detail so I was really hustling through the washes when I heard a loud "Fiberglass sounding" CRASH!!! and my helper Jeff yelling "Oh My God Did You See That?!!?!!!"

Anyway...this guy in a fairly new burgundy Corvette convertible, clearly going too fast around the off ramp, wipes out into a dirt bank, takes out a state owned sign pole and spins out into the road nearly taking out the stock vans on our lot.

This "Silver Fox" Vette owner was clearly shook up, but he kept slowly driving, rolling right through the stop sign (not over it) at the intersection in front of my shop. The car was all busted up with fiberglass (composite or whatever they are) body pieces hanging off of the car and steam coming out from under the hood.

As far as I know he wasn't injured, not really sure as he kept on driving slowly down the road. As he drove by I saw that he had what I assume was his wife in the passenger seat, and I knew right then that his EGO was definitely shattered. I felt bad for him.

Not for nothing, just chatting about anything. TD

First of all: I'm glad You, Jeff, the vans & GT...suffered no harm.

And:
I hope the ol' fart's accident was because he just missed putting on the brakes...instead of
having an out-of-control medical condition just pop-up at a very inconvenient place/moment.

Or maybe it was caused by the Lady (no matter her claim on the "Silver Fox") in the other seat...
A different (uncontrollable) symptom. But, nonetheless, still a pop-up at a very inconvenient place/moment?

(NOTE: If it was the latter: Good for him!)

I had a couple buddies over at the shop, one was throwing the ball for his dog out back and looking across about 3 property's back yards, we could see the guy pull the Vette into a lot over there where he was walking around the car checking out the damage. Then there were cops driving all around the place. Looked like they were looking for the guy but he was gone by the time they showed up. I think he was OK.

Silver fox=probably in his late 50's early 60's

This is a typical case that I hear in my insurance business.
People drive with the minimum insurance needed. In NV its 15/30/10.
The 10 is for property damage.

Example: If he lived in NV and only carried minimums here that means u only get 10k for damages. If this guy had hit a Mercedes and took out a few signs or a nice signal light box on the street that was full of computer equipment then he would only be covered for 10k. The benz would take care of that then he would be out of pocket the rest of the money or be sued etc. People don't think about what it costs for the city to send a few crews out at night or on a Sat or Sun and pay OT to fix these problems created by accidents. This is just my  on why to properly insure yourselves with your INSURANCE company.

Yeah I hear you. The location I'm at could see a hundred thousand cars "easy" pass by daily. You could only imagine the amount of bad driving I see on a daily basis. Some folks just have no idea that they hold up tractor trailers trying to negotiate the turn onto the on ramp that my shop sits at the corner of. I'm like  several times every single day.

This guy in the Vette is the 4th or 5th one I witnessed wiping out on this off ramp.

I tell my friends that it's because I'm so good looking, people watching me and not the road. They just won't believe me though.

Those Corvette run flats are pretty slippery under 60 degrees. The last time I took my Vette up my twisty road route at 55 degrees I got a big slide on my 'warm up the tires' pace. I emphasize, the last time because I wont drive aggressively at those temps any longer. Under 60 degrees = chill ride.

Well today a guy come too fast around the wet intersection and crashed head on into one of the 2013 Toyota wheelchair accesible mini van rental units. Nearly pushed it into a brand new 2014 bus we just had delivered yesterday. Place is getting dangerous I tell you.
