Yes, you can let #7 soak over night, but it isn’t mandatory.


Speed is awesome on single stage. Use as much Meguiar’s #7 as the paint needs. I had great luck the one time I used Speed on single stage. If the paint reacts well to compound and polish you can go that route too. I like Speed because I don’t have a paint thickness gauge and speed is so easy to work with.

No, you can polish/compound/correct single stage paint. I'd hit it with some 7 and do that first to get it ready for any additional work that you will do. From the looks of it, it should really turn out well!!!

Good advice!

How many 1979’s with 25,000 miles exist in stock condition? I bet less than a few 100. Stock all the way. I love the color combination too. That hood scoop is awesome as well. Congrats on such a sweet, great looking, low mileage ride.
 
Thanks for all the advice guys! I should be picking it up in another week or so and will update as I work on it. I’ll definitely get some #7 and do that first THEN the hd speed for a test spot. Maybe the hatch or something. I’m really excited to get this thing home and get to work on it. Should be around for a while!
