2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Caused when the hard-fabric edge of a 'softbox' (light modifier for studio strobe) fell onto the driver door.

There is a slight catch when I run my fingernail over the scratch.

Can this be fixed without repainting the door?

Needs touch up paint, wet sand and polish. Being heavy metallic, it won't be perfect, but cheaper than a respray.

it's hard to tell from that pic but i'd compound a bit first to see if it improves, as i've had dark paints get significant incident-induced RIDS and when the edges are knocked down, it gets more leveled and also the valley is cleaned out, it becomes almost invisible in most lights. it's hard to tell from the pic if the clear is just marked or if it's knocked out and base or worse is exposed. is there any evidence of a dent at the point of impact? where on the door is this damage?

I agree with builthatch try and fix it by fading it out by polishing first. Like he said, I've seen many marks similar to that fade to near invisible with some light/moderate polishing
