ac smell

OK so I sprayed that 1Z stuff in the drain tube and the smell is still there. So now I'm positive it is not mold or mildew and that it's a chemical smell.

And why did you spray it in the drain tube and not down the center vents?

Can you describe exactly what you did?

Did you remove the cabin filter like suggested? What did it look like? Post up pics of it!

1Z is not the stuff that you spray into the drain tube. That is a spray not a foam.
Read how to use it. I am sure the directions were on the can too. 1Z Einszett Klima-Cleaner Air Conditioner Treatment

The foam cleaner is what you inject into the drain hole! Watch the video that I provided.

Mold and mildew are NOT chemical smells. I am sure you have that now by spraying that up the drain tube.

My recommendation to you is to go to the dealership or a shop and have them fix what you did and clean it up. Maybe you can watch them and do it next time.
 
I bought 3 cans of z1. 2 of the cans were for the car in question. I sprayed 1 can in the drain tube. The other can was sprayed in the vents and behind the glove box. The cabin air filter was just changed recently so it wasn't dirty.
 
Well no wonder why you smell chemicals. The filter is not most likely saturated in that chemical. So you used 2 cans of that one car?

Like I said before I think you should take it to someone who knows what they are doing. I don't mean any offense by this, just reading what was suggested and what you did, they are 2 different things. Maybe you could watch them and then do it next time.
 
is the smell any differant after the 1z?

is your a/c system draining? is there a puddle of water under your car where you park? If there is no puddle your drain tubes could be clogged letting moldy water build up in your a/c system.
 
There is a puddle under my car after I drive. There was a puddle when I sprayed that stuff in my car.

I'm not smelling a new smell after spraying that stuff. I'm smelling the same smell. That's why I think something is leaking.
 
I had the same problem, smoke smell on top of it. I used So2pure. Follow the directions. Put the setting on recycle, fan on high, spray into the air intake both sides, spray do the vents. I would do the rest of the car. Important that it dries in the sun. Odors gone, no chemical smell. I didn't have high hopes but it worked. I would suggest replacing the cabin filter as well.
 
If you are getting a chemical smell when the a/c is on there is a chance your evaporator is leaking. I see it a lot in Range Rovers here in AZ.

Remove one of your a/c service port caps and smell the inside of the cap. If they smell the same you have a leak in your dash.
