Accepting credit/debit cards for mobile guys?

Sweet! I'll look into the square then. Main reason i feel people would be more comfortable swiping with the square vs an unknown one since they know square. Man I could have sworn it had a $12 a mo. fee.

I don't have a mobile business but use Square for transactions. Note for those using square, go to their site and get the new slimmer Square card reader. It's free of course and necessary once they stop supporting the old card reader.

Didn't know they had a new one.
Thx! :xyxthumbs:

No problem. :xyxthumbs: I received an email from them yesterday telling me about it. I think it's only for iOS users that need to get the new card.

That would be me :xyxthumbs:
Strange I didn't get an email.

I use Paypal here at 2.5% and payments are instantly available via my paypal business debit card.

I had square before and use to let my balance climb before I had a chance to transfer to my personal checking. Took up to 3-5 days to transfer. The one time I let my balance climb to over $2500, square wouldn't release my funds for over 30 days!

Hum... maybe Square works directly in the US but here in Canada they automatically transfer all the funds to my bank account on the next business day. I never had 2500$ days so I am hoping that will not be an issue if I have one ;)

Only thing I don't like about square so far is that they don't allow bank account debit here in Canada. They accept all the major credit cards though.

Square doesnt have a monthly fee?

No. Just a flat rate per transaction that is lower than everything else I have looked at so far. No charge for the reader either. If you are starting out, this is the way to go.

Plus by EMS, which is what we use has a cheaper rate.

I use Square, the time for the funds to actually show up in your bank account vary from bank to bank. With my old bank it was 3 days. With my credit union it's the next day, maybe 2 max. I think for some banks the amount could cause a longer wait too. I know with physical checks BofA would put a hold if it was over a certain amount. My credit union I've deposited a $1,500 check and the money was available right away. With BofA and that size check, no way. Square has nothing to do with the speed.

i use the same bank that i have my business account with. bank of america. they have a mobile merchant card reader.. free. and if i use it on a consistent basis, my business account is free. also, bank of america takes only 1.7% on every swipe. that was the lowest i found. hope this helped.

Intuit and Square are right at the top. I tried 2 and ended up settling on Square. One BIG plus is you can get multiple FREE card readers for you "staff". You can have one for your phone, and another one for your iPad. ;) The available data for iPad is much more than for a mobile phone app. You can also connect (and manage) cash drawers via Bluetooth, and Bluetooth printers.

Update: Recently purchased IPad mini with service to use with square for a better experience for my clients. I am also using quickbooks online edition to keep track of all my books. It's amazing to be paper free! Also sending receipts to clients through quickbooks online via email

Funny thing just happened to me today.

I received a call by the "Québec Business people association". Person on the phone tells me she is calling to help me reduce the fees for accepting credit card payments. I tell her great, I am all for that!

She asks me who I am doing business with for Credit Cards. I tell her I am with Square.

short pause... "I am sorry, there is nothing I will be able to do for you today".

I was laughing my ass off when I hung up. Hahaha!

That's awesome! I'm having a yard sale this weekend and will give people the option of card payments. I doubt i'll use it much since most yard sale buyers carry tons of cash. But it's a nice option for sure. I'm sure some would have trust issues as well.
