Hello guys,

I called around today to get an idea of the cost of accepting credit card and Interac payments. For someone starting out like me, it's a bit steep. 70$ per month to rent the mobile terminal, 1-2% fee on each transactions (Credit Cards) and 0,07$ fee on Interac. On top of that it cost 200$ to setup the account.

I read in Renny Doyle's book that there is a way to accept credit card payments using a Smart Phone. Does any one do that and if so how?

Otherwise, any tips on accepting those payments without the heavy fees for a Mobile Terminal? I won't mind paying that when I have a steady Stream of customers, but right now I don't even know how many détails I will be able to do this summer.

Check out intuit go payment or square. You can download the app from either the apple or android store and they will send you a swipe plug in. I think they are both around 2.75% per swipe with no monthly fee.

Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using AG Online

I use Square love it been using for over 2 years and paypal has the same card reader now too. You only get charge for every swipe no monthly fees.

If you are mobile and just starting with no clients: DON'T DO IT UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO!! Look I am serious about this. I call A LOT of merchant service companies. Although they all sound great, giving you great deals, almost all of them will not give you all the info that you need. They won't tell you all the details UNLESS you ask.
I know I may be too alarm into this, but whatever you do don't sing ANY contract. There are lots and lots of ridicules fees. Honestly most people have cash, and if they are calling you in advance to schedule an appointment, they can go get cash.
Remember that most people have some time of rewards car, they get charge the highest percentage.
If you do have to get one, get one without a contract and one that you can cancel any time. PERIOD.
To this day I accept cash only and most people don't have a problem with that. I would cary a Square in case you do have an emergency, but remember that they all have their story and you can find TONES of rip off reports.

I use "square" and love it as well. The card reader and app are totally free, but there is a small fee for each transaction. I also have it set up to direct deposit the payment into my bank account, so no online transfers to worry about or anything like that. It gives your customers the option of adding a tip if they would like, and it also has an option to send them a receipt via email. Simple and very effective!

I use Paypal HERE and it works great. No complaints and my customers love it

Intuit Go Payment is what you want for mobile detailing. I have been using it for 1 1/2 yrs. without any problems. They just made some really good improvements.

I have a phone incompatibility problem ;( I have a Galaxy S4 and neither Paypal nor Intuit supports it... that sucks.

Ya, I so regret switching to Android. I hate my phone and on top of it there is no support from any third party. I am so getting an other iPhone when my current contract ends in 2 years.

Square payment system works with Android flawlessly. I've been using it for ~1.5 years and have never had an issue. It also saves your customer's email or phone number to email/text receipts automatically with every transaction. It's AWESOME if you have a lot of repeat business.

Good info - I just registered a few minutes ago.

SQUARE!!!!
It's a cash register.

It rocks because it does more the just accept CCs
I've tried them all

With Square I get a Cash Register that all of my money sale through it.
You also get spreed sheets on the web site.
I can look at the money I make in one sec.

The other CC swipers only do that, swipe CCs. You can't input cash and there are no websites to see your sales.

I've been using Square for about 1.5yrs and love it.

Have y'all seen the new "square stand" ? Looks very promising for a POS (point of sale)

Thanks, I just checked and even if my phone is not listed they do say it supports pretty much all recent Android phones as long as the screen is large and it has a 3.5" jack. Well the S4 has the second biggest screen on the market (after the Galaxy Note) so I should be good. Will set up with them as soon as I open the bank account for my company.

I use square, you only get charged when you use it no monthly fee's. Going on 1-1/2 yrs and just like others have said, "Love it!" When I first started out I only took cash or checks (square wasn't available at the time) because I refused to pay those card card processor scammer's all their crazy fee's and getting locked into a contract.

Good Luck in your detailing business :dblthumb2:

I have both a Square and PayPal Here reader but end up using the PayPal reader 95% of the time. The reason I do so is because when I swipe a card I get the funds IMMEDIATELY. The reason I get them so fast is because it deposits the money in my PayPal account. Pair that with my Business Debit card from them and voila instant available money thats easy to use to boot. When I use the card I get 1% cash back so in essence im only getting charged 1.7% on every swipe instead of 2.7%.
