According to the Menzerna chart...

I haven't used either of those, but FG400 is (I think) their newest product, so it's not outside the realm of imagination that it has the latest and greatest abrasives and those numbers are correct.

Check this out Mark...

I can't speak to the technical side but based on the reviews of others (thank you Smack) I tried FG400 for the first time this weekend and was thrilled with the results.

It does an excellent job of removing swirls / RIDS (I used with a LC orange pad) and imparts an amazing gloss when worked a little. For giggles, I followed with FG4500 and then used Pete's 53 as my LSP on my dark blue BMW.

Anyway, the stuff is fantastic - highly recommend!

I have been very impressed with how well FG400 finishes down on the hard clear coats I have tried it on.

Hi Mark...

I remember a couple days ago, when we were discussing DAT vs. SMAT abrasives in your thread-starter:
"RE: Finally decided to use diminishing abrasive polishes more often..."

That I brought-up the fact that Menzerna was using:
"ATT/CAOA-abrasive technology" in their FG400 offering.

So...I do believe that if one uses FG400 with the proper tools, pads, technique, etc...
[Please contact AGO forum member smack (Mike) for details]...
The levels of 'cut and gloss' that Menzerna claims for FG400 is attainable.

NOTE:
I also remember your thoughts on FG400 after you stated you
perused Todd H's write-up of his: M105 and FG400 differences.

FG400 is my go to product for one steps nothing else like it. Easy to use long work time almost no dusting and a great cut with MF pads.

Im glad you decided to try some FG400. For me it is incredible the way this product can finish out for being such an aggressive compound. The fact that it will do so in such an easy manner is a win in my book.

The finish that FG400 leaves in such an easy fashion makes it my go to compound for serious defect removal.

The fact of the matter is that FG400 is much easier to use than M105 is a clear winner in my book. I think M105 should be more or less limited to rotary use. This is where it shines. Put it on a D/A and you start having issues so commonly related with its use in doing so.

He did not us MF pads with the FG400 Which makes a difference. I would still use FG400 over 105 95% of the time.
Yes he did, and got less than desired results. Look at the thread again. I trust Todd 150%!!

Check this out guys. This is from AGO's sister forum, by Todd Helme. I really think you need to see a polishes true finish on black paint.

Thanks for this link Mark.

Do you feel this particular write-up of Todd Helme's addresses and/or answers your Menzerna FG400's:
"cut/gloss-doubts"...in your below listed OP...in this particular thread-starter of yours?
here on autogeek, FG400 has almost double the cut(9) of PF2500(5), yet has the same gloss level(7).
That doesn't sound right to me. :dunno:

Thanks.

:)

I agree with Mark on this one. PF2500 and FG400 should not have the same gloss levels.

PF2500 gives higher gloss over more types of paint systems. I absolutely love FG400, but it will haze over some paints.

Can FG400 match PF2500 in gloss? Sure it can on certain paints, but on balance PF2500 will finish down better and provide greater gloss.

Bottom line, is that Menzerna has a comprehensive line of compounds and polishes that work amazingly well!

GREAT answer! Thanks! :dblthumb2:

Could fg400 also be used as a one stepper on hard (GM) paint? Particularly a black silverado without hazing?
