Thanks for all the responses everyone.
I contacted the management of the building that I park in and they offered to detail my car.
Upon getting a quote, the detailer tried to test polish the spot and it came off.
That's great!
I guess that means the spots were not ON the surface like most water spot removers or vinegar will remove but had penetrated to some level INTO the clearcoat but not so far that a polish would not remove them. This is where you got lucky.
If they detail the entire car, be careful that they don't also swirl it out. Look at the paint in the sun after they're done with it.
I can't tell you how many times this type of horror story comes up on our forum.
