I'm getting back into professional detailing after only working on my own cars for the last few yrs, and I am thinking of adding a porter cable dual action polisher. I like the fact that its very versatile and less damaging/risky and messy than a rotary. My question is since I have been using my dewalt rotary for yrs, is there any reason to add the porter cable or am I just wasting time and money if I already have and use a rotary?

thanks
Rob

i think the PC will be disapointing compared to the rotary. if you have room in your budget the GG6 on Rupes Duetto will work better for you.

GG6 DA with 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads can handle anything you throw at it with the right pads and polishes and it has a lifetime warranty.

Having and using a rotary is one thing..finishing hologram free is another. A PC (Griot) can reach areas that your Dewalt can't, so yes, it is a useful tool to add.:props:

IMO:
Professional detailers can never have enough
polishers...and that includes having a wide
variety/type/selection of them, as well!

:iagree: And my choice for DA polisher would be the Flex 3401. Having PC 7424, Flex 3401 and Flex 14-2 rotary, I use my PC 7424 to clean carpet now.

You can go to harbor freight and get the da with the coupon for 47 dollars and achieve the same results as porter cable.

The gg6 has more power but at the price of 130-150 id much rather buy the harbor freight da and buy products and pads.

But yes you will need one of these da polishers if your going to be detailing professionally

I have a
Griots G21
Flex 3401
Pc 7424xp
Makita Rotary

You can never have enough ammo in your aresnel for different situations or paint

I think the harbor freight and porter cable are identical machines kind of dumb to pay 130 for the pc when you can buy one at harbor freight and get the same exact results

thanks for the help guys, the griots 6in does look like a better reviewed product, I will prob go with that, now just have to decide what kit/ pads/ compounds to start with. the lake country pads/meguires combo looks good. Too bad none of the discount codes apply

the coupon is supposed to work with HD polisher kits. (25ft cord vs 10ft cord)

I tried that, still didn't work, I think polishers for some reason are exempt from discounts
