Anyone using additives in their gas and oil on a regular or annual basis ??? In the past I have used BG 44K with what I felt to be measurable results in additional fuel economy and smooth idle >>

Every so often I use seafoam in my gas tank. No additives in oil I just run synthetic oil

Maybe once a year I'll use a fuel system cleaner. Normally use BP or Shell gasoline anyways which has their additives.

Nothing for oil other than what Valvoline uses in their SynPower.

Nothing in oil, il dump some fuel injector cleaner in the gas every 10,000 miles. I run Pennzoil Ultra synthetic, and generally only buy gas from mobil, shell, and BP.

Since many of the fuel tank additives are mostly comprised of mineral spirits, acetone, kerosene or its derivatives....I wonder what accumalative effect of using additives, such as BG 44K in the fuel tank, will have on the in-line fuel filter, the fuel pump and sending-unit, O-Rings, seals, other fuel sustem rubber components.

IMO.....If ever needed.....Bench cleaning/testing of fuel system components, using many of the same chemicals that are in fuel tank additives, is where the most dramatic difference will be seen.

Gasoline purchased at the pump is supposed to have enough additives, as required, regionally.
That doesn't include the "additives" that are in the 3,000 gallon tank towed around by the tanker truck, though. :D

I never use oil additives.

I use ams p.i. for fuel system cleaner every oil change and sub 1qt Lucas hd oil stabilizer with mc blend . I only use gas with no ethanol in it

All modern gasoline has additives. There is no advantage of running any kind of additive unless it is a fuel stabilizer for a stored vehicle. Crankcases are made for oil and oil only.

I use Zmax everytime I do an oil change, and seafoam my induction system every 15k miles.

I have been using royal purple oil for a while and have never had a problem. My engines run smooth as silk and have never had a problem.

I add 20oz of Techtron to gas about a 1000 mi before every oil change (Mobil 1 0-40w, European formula)

I used lucas in my oil in an 1998 chrysler I use to have and started up more quiet. Now I only use valvoline synthetic for my oil. We only have shell, exxon and chevron in S.E. Louisiana for big name gas. Even though they have additives in there gas they still all have ethanol, I work at a Marathon oil refinery where we make gas and put the additives in for shell and other gas stations. The ethanol in gas builds up in your engine. I only go to the small neigborhood gas stations that have ethanol-free gas.

Oil

  • Royal Purple
  • Mobil 1
Gas

  • Fuel stabilizer - Z06 only during its winters hibernation
  • Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner - Once annually in daily drivers

BG 44K is (IMO) the best fuel additive you can buy. I was a technician in a Euro car dealership for 17 years and we used BG products with outstanding results.

It is a strong cleaner and I would not advise using it more than every 15,000 miles and make sure you are adding it to at least 12 gallons of gas. It's best to add it when you will be doing many short trips as opposed to a 300 mile road trip. The chemicals work best during the heat soak periods to breakdown the internal carbon deposits.

Chevron Techron is another good product, but not in the same class as the BG 44k.

I ocassionally add fuel system cleaner in my fuel injected vehicles. I don't add anything to the oil in my newer vehicles and I use Mobile 1 in them.

In my older car I add Lucas oil tretment to get the ZDDP level up...

1 Quart of Marvel's Mystery Oil subbed for 1 Quart of oil at every oil change, Mobil 1 5W30 and a K&N Gold oil filter.

Red Line SI-1 fuel system cleaner every 10K miles

Red Line Water Wetter in coolant

LubeGard red bottle in transmission fluid

Royal Purple gear oil in differentials

Been running multiple vehicles with that setup for years, they all run great.

Another user of Marvel's Mystery Oil, both in the crankcase oil and and a dab in the fuel.
LubeGard red added when I change the transmission fluid.
