Additives

Amsoil Signature 0-30, Amsoil filter. No additives needed.
Marvel Mystery Oil/Seafoam 60/40 mix in fuel. 2oz per 10 gal.

Honda/Acura's recommend BG with every 30k service. I use that and every once in awhile I use Lucas fuel cleaner. I love that stuff.

I use Lucas Fuel Treatment and Pennzoil Synthetic for oil.

I seafoam my engine once a year, take MAF out and clean it and spray the intake. Smokes like a blew a head gasket!

I also throw some seafoam in my tank. My gas gauge started having fits and a can of seafoam knocked the ick off and it started working again or it was coincidental.

I run Mobil 1 oil, Wix/Napa Gold filters and change every 5,000 miles. Easy for me to remember.

I have 168,000 miles on the clock, get 17.75 - 18.5mpg depending how much lead I have in the right foot and how late I am on way to work, dodging deer.

I put a small amount of Redline Injector cleaner in with every fill up.
NO ethanol gas, ever ! Brad Penn oil, no other additives, Techron
if I cannot get Redline.

Amsoil 0w30 with an Amsoil or Wix oil filter, no additives.
STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner once every 6 months.

When I can't get Amsoil I'll use Mobil 1 or Royal Purple. I run synthetics in my engine, transmission, and power steering unit. I have 2 cars with over 150,000 miles on them, been using synthetic fluids (with the exception of brake fluid) after the first required fluid changes (for break-in purposes) and the cars still run like they were new. A lot of my friends who ride in the cars always comment on how well they run despite their high mileage :)

I tried almost all kinds of fuel additives. Redline Si-1 that's the only thing gave me a noticable difference. I go with it every other fill up, just buy it from amazon. My second choice is bg44. Lucus is suppossed to be a good thing but I don't know why it even drops my mpg a little bit.

Honda/Acura uses BG 44K for all their major services (30k, 60, 95, 105). I went to the dealer yesterday for intermittent problems starting the car and one of the first things he asked was if I've put anything under 93 octane. He recommend that I put a fuel treatment like BG 44K in every once in awhile. I've put Lucas Oil treatment in every so often. I'm gonna put BG 44K in this weekend and then again at 30K miles. It does improve your fuel system.

anyone know of a retailer that carries BG 44K locally ??? I can only find it online as of late.

I would also recommend BG products .. Back in 1978 i was in colorful Colorado working at north west vw and the bg man came for demonstration.
They had a small block ford 289 engine bolted to a trailer with cheese
I mean radiator and small fuel tank.. They started the engine and had a lever that lowered the oil pan we all saw the oil pressure drop.
Then they fed us lunch and talked about bg for 1/2 hour..
After lunch with the engine still running they reved it up had us rev it up even had some of those sexy office worker rev it up..
So i have seen for my self and am convinced Bg is good stuff..

I use used to use Lucas and Techron, they changed the Techron recently and took all the good stuff out of it. Ive been using Berrymans Chemtool and Mystery Oil lately.

I used Fuel Power - FP60 for several years. They were a sponsor at one time for Bobistheoilguy. On two cars we consistently got 1.5 mpg better than without it. I ran out early last year and never reordered for some reason......most likely lack of funds.

Since I ran out I use Techron for 20 gallons in a 16 gallon tank twice a year to keep things clean. No mpg improvement there as with FP60 which also kept the system clean. HMMM Maybe I need to rethink this!

I used to be fairly religious about adding Redline SI-1 "Complete Fuel Sytem Cleaner" in every tank. I guess I've been lazy and/or trusting of Chevron stations to add enough Techron to their premium to keep things clean. I'd run about double the maintenance dose every fillup...so 1 bottle spread out into 5 tanks. Every now and then run a full bottle in a tank of gas. I found that stuff really helpful when I used it a lot in the 90's. The funny thing is I haven't been adding much of anything to my '09. Now that she has some miles on her (just getting broken in at about 35k miles), it would be interesting to see if there are gains to be had once again.

Another BG44K user here. I use it once a year and only on road trips.

I also use Castrol Edge 5w-40 Euro Formula for my bimmer.

My car's engine likes the way I treat her... with tlc.

I put 1/2 quart lucas oil stabilizer in with every oil change, and I use lucas fuel injector cleaner also.

This thread reminds me that I need to go to rural king and pick up some Sea Foam....guess I may have to pass the BOGO even if it's good.:(

my 2 cents...while additives do usually deliver the advertised results..I have been told by a good friend and GREAT mechanic that all additives are very hard on seals. I guess it just depends on risk/reward.
