Has your family/friends adjusted to the numerous hours you've dedicated to your new interest in auto detailing? Or have they gotten tired of you bringing up Autogeek.net, the Forum and what to know who is this Mike Phillips you keep talking about and the knowledge you've obtained and want them to know about it?

In a way yes (for me) but when my family gets together all they talk about cars, mechanics, body work, body work, detailing, paint, management, detailing, customer service etc...

Right now they are talking about rock chips blending them and how they write the estimates and customer service at their shops.

My Manager Uncle said that now the customer's just go to his shop. Hand him the keys and then tell for him to just call them when the car is done. Since he says he worries about customer service down to the T and the customer now trust his shop. Theres a lot more that they are talking about but that is a quick summary.

Well my hobby isnt new, ive been in the game for the last 8 years. However uncle sam (Army) keeps me very busy these days, so I have little time to detail as opposed to before.

My wife thinks I'm crazy until I start helping her clean the house with some methods I learned from detailing.

My wife doesn't understand how delicate car paint is. She also views it as a way of transportation and not a work of art. She's like, "why do you need 2 buckets?" "Why does it take you ALL DAY to clean your car?!"

My dad laughs and thinks I'm obsessed, but sure as heck doesn't mind the full day detail on his car..

The girlfriend pretty much hates that I wash the car every weekend, but same thing applies, didn't mind the full day detail that was a pain on a white jeep. I did freak her out with the Iron-x, then she watched in amazement, then freaked again about hoping it didn't "stain" the paint.

The g/f loves the foam gun..

all friends who ride in my car know the rules, they are just lucky I don't make them wear shoe covers and microfiber gloves..I am glad almost everyone here understands what I am saying, right? lol

Dad also didn't mind the Glass Shower door "detail"
-Pinnacle GlassWork Water Spot Remover
-Griots Glass sealant
Using GC6 w/ Griot Orange pad

For the most part, why? Your in an auto car care forum, so most members are either detail enthusiasts, business owners or both. You have to understand that most people dont share your passion, just like most people dont share my passion for the M4 Carbine.

Thats whats great about forums, it brings like minded people together.

I've been detail since the late 90's, well with passion but sarted in the 80's with the Wax Shop and there system (remember them?) Just got back into it again after about 4 or 5 years because of work. Getting back into it and really feel like I'm new to all the technology and SMAT in the meguiars products as well as all these new (to me) lines of detailing products. Having fun the comparing the new stuff to what I know.

Got a smart TV and it has the youtube feature to it so now when I get a chance to whatch it I'm catching up with all the video's mikes got up & watching the Detail fest and the great HOURS of the detail clinics (helps fill in where I had my PC dvd scratched up), when the family gets home my kids will yell at my wife and say dads watching Mike again! can we have the TV.

And my adjustments are in the form of 2 test hoods and a perfect red door I'm saving for the sanding disc and a complete wet sand, just to have some fun!!

Thank you sir! For your service to this great country!

Initially my wife complained quite bit about amount of money and time I have spent on detailing. But now, after getting some compliments on how great the car looks, she doesn't say much when I tell her I am going to the garage.

Funny thing is one day, one of my neighbors asked how I maintain the car so well. I simply commented that I spend the time to which my wife later said, why don't you go teach him how its done?
