Well, to keep it brief i was in a MVA in which a 19 year old ran a light while texting. Got admitted the same night march 27th!

Now, im home, lots of spinal problems mainly lumbar region ( L1-L5), (C3-C5), and lots of issues in my right hip! My hip suffered a torn Labrum. Now my hip has a screw (where the ball meets the glove) and they repaired the nerve!

Starting tomo i got PT 3x week (did not want to go under the knife) on my back! If all else fails than yes, however they did multiple injections in my (SI) joint which seemed ok at first but it wore off. And had 3 (Epidural) 1 in my L5, C3, L4!

I now have a limp (to early to tell) if thats going anywhere!! And there are a gazillion things im told are wrong with me...Just great!! I do have the best attorney in my state on the case! But he tells me to be patient because im sitting on a golden nugget as he calls it! Im just stressed out, My audi a4 was destroyed! (Going to get another).

In the meantime, I've hired a friend to run my business in the areas which i cannot! But anyone that runs a business knows you can be bed rested and now have the time for neglected areas! Im just thankful to be alive!

But heres my advice!! ***IF YOU TEXT AND DRIVE, YOUR AN IDIOT***cars are made to drive....SO GET OFF YOUR PHONE AND DRIVE IT!!!:dblthumb2:

Had trouble with the L4 & L5 myself till I had surgery in the early 90s. Had to, woke up one morning and my entire left leg was numb and stayed
that way. I don't envy you. Sounds like you took a hard hit.

Im sorry to hear about your luck! I used to be one of those idiots that txt and drove until I dated a girl a couple years back that got into a bad accident. She was texting someone and holding onto the wheel, slammed into the back of someone and almost ripped off both her thumbs (how she was holding the wheel). That was obviously enough to scare the heck out of me. I yell at people all the time for doing that and understand the importance of not doing that. Hopefully at the very least, the girl that hit you learned her lesson and shares her story with others so they do not do the same.

I wish you the best for a speedy recovery!

Good golly dude! Sucks to hear that. Hope everything works out for you and you feel like your old self again (or even better) in no time! :bestwishes:

I injured my back in '79 and half of my left leg and left foot went numb. Did want surgery because of the horror stories I heard back then. Was in chronic pain for about 8yrs and my leg and foot are still numb, but did not take narcotics. Re-injured my back in 2000 went thrugh hell for 5yrs. until nerve damage in my leg got so bad I couldn't run or stand on my tip toes. Finally in 2006 I had surgery. What a mistake! They botched the first one so bad that a week later they had to open me up again. After the surgeries I stll have all the same symtoms and pain, it did nothing at all to help. They now want to fuse 4 verabrae and add some metal rods. I went to 3 different spinal centers and they all suggested the same thing. I told them no. I don't think I'll ever let anyone cut my back again.

About 15 years ago I had a lumbar lamenectomy on L5-S1 due to nerve compression causing me terrible back and leg pain. The operation came out great and I'm 100% pain/numbness free. So, its not always a bad outcome.

Glad to hear you are doing better. Sounds like it could have been worse!!!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. And I totally agree with the IDIOT bit.

In DC distacted driving has gotten so bad that there are laws against not only cell phone use - but also eating and drinking behind the wheel. So if caught sipping a Pepsi or bottled water, one gets fined.
Wishing you a fill recovery.

Really sorry to see this, hope you heal up and your rehab goes as well as it can:dblthumb2:

Holy Cow Tory! Sorry to hear the bad news and I'm glad you survived and hope you continue to heal. Back injuries are tough ones to get healed properly and if you do anything make sure you have the best doctor and heed his advise....

Take this one day by day and I hope mr 19 year old numb-nuts has lost of insurance. I wonder what the cost in lives, injuries, and monetary impact totals annually because if these little talk boxes?

Just to get on my soapbox for a moment--I only see this whole distracted driving thing getting worse, not better. Forget the dumbass stuff like texting or watching DVD's on hacked factory or aftermarket nav's, the cockpit workload is so much higher today than a generation or two ago.

When I started driving you had mechanical radio buttons you could feel and push, HVAC controls with levers etc. which were the same. Instruments and clocks were all analog and could be scanned quickly.

Today with so many touchscreens, nav, satellite radios, driver information displays, there is so much stuff that you have to take your eyes off the road for, or CAN. With that old mechanical radio I know what my presets were, I never had to look at the radio. Today I've got 200 channels to scroll through, I have to look and read what channel I'm on, and while I'm looking I can get distracted trying to read the artist and song. And of course NAV's.

That's without even touching on phones, which even if you use a headset most people wind up looking at to see who's calling or or who's calling while you're talking to someone else.

I just don't see taking phones, Nav systems, or sat radios out of the driving equation, they are too ubiquitous.

T3 man, sorry this happened to you I hope you get better fast.

This option was thrown out there, i said i want to everything possible before going under the knife. My father is a perfect example of chronic back pain due to surgical failure in 07.Very tough choices, it seems thus far i hear and read more bad than good.I currently have no feeling from the knee up to waist and right buttocks!

Thanks guys for all the wishes :dblthumb2:

They tried giving me there dope! Im on all non-narcotic! I have 2 muscle relaxers for the spasms and 1000mg Tylenol for pain.I didnt want to get hooked to anything, watched first hand that stuff ruin peoples lives.

I didnt know so many people would respond, here is what my impression reads:

Transitional vertebra with lumbarization of S1 and a mobile disc space at so labeled S1-S2.There is interspace narrowing with disc dehydration and an extradural defect at the L5-S1 level. There are signs of retrolisthesis of L5 on S1. Lower thoracic spine appears normal.

L3-L4: Lateral Foraminal stenosis

L4-L5: maintained central annulus and facets. There is hyperintensity seen within the left lateral annulus with a suggestion of far left lateral annular protrusion which looks to contact the extraforminal left L4 nerve best demonstrated series 8 image 13 and 14. Slight central canal narrowing.

L5-S1:
Protruding central annulus predominantly displaces the epidural fat which looks to encroach the intraspinal S1 or exiting L5 nerves best seen on series 11 images 5-8. Central spinal stenosis with normal facets.

Degenerative spondylosis pronounced at L5-S1 with central annular protrusion with slight nerve root impingement.

This was my lumbar impression, thoracic cleared and i still have impressions of my hip which lead to bmes as they call it, and a herniated C3 and C4 yet C5 is bulging??

Ive googled some of it and had to stop, its better left in greek (doctor terms) atm for this is stressful and i know the road ahead is going to suck! Im not at all worried about the cuts and bruises, they will heal with time! My back worries me.

Thanks for taking the time to read

Regards, Tory Taylor

Thanks Bobby, I have the best attorney in the state (he found me from the news) and he just takes 33% of the total at the end (going after progressive) and he advised me not to settle for anything under 100,000. I had full coverage and so did girl that hit me ( she was in a 09 e class benz). So i know shes got money or atleast her family does. Like i told my attorney, yea the money is great and all but...That money is going to be gone one day. Hows my back going to be in 20 years when im 45? Thats my main concern. I didn't bust my ass the last 9 years to be a cripple (no offense) if anyone is. The whole thing is just frustrating. Thank god i have a wonderful woman on my side.

wow, and this is only your 34th post! That would of made one hell of a 1st post!

Imo: post count is nothing, i lurked for quite awhile. I tend not to just (spam) but if i can help someone i'll post! Ive yet to not be able to find what i need with the search feature. Normally i do more reading less spamage :dblthumb2:

BTW, you probably did'nt even need an attorney. The policy limits for the policy are going to be paid, yours or her's, which ever is higher, its a given. She either has $100,000 or $250,000 per person injury; (if she has an umbrella policy they start at $1,000,000 of coverage!) In cases like yours the insurance company just writes the check.

All the best

if there's one thing that i can't stand and won't tolerate is driving while talking or texting and i still see it everyday here in southern california. for the 1st offense it should be a $500 ticket (double the next time around) and a point on your record unless you go to driving school. there are already bad enough drivers as it is and doing the formentioned is just another distraction. when you're driving, that's all you should be doing as you're in charge of a 3000 plus machine that can kill or injure someone. as one window sign i saw in a rear window read, "hang up & drive". by still doing this, it shows that people have no respect or care for others at all...

Sorry to hear about this. Listen to the medical professionals and follow orders.

No she has 100/300 just like me, And insurance companys don't just sign checks over...It will goto court and more than likely not be an overnight ordeal. That much i do know.

:awman:Thats just horrible to have happened Tory. I will say a prayer for your healing .
