Hi all,

Thought I would give a short review on ADS hero now that my bottle is almost gone. Ill give a short summary, that will probably get me some hate. It's fine, but I don't think it's the standout product all the youtube reviews make it out to be.

Value: I think the price is fine, its on the high end of the r "premium" brand Rinseless washes, like Clean, DIY, etc. Compared to Optimum, P&S, Mckees, and even KCX i think it loses here in oz per dollar. (using current amazon pricing of 1.37 per oz vs well under a dollar for Kcx) Its not absurdly expensive, but you get almost twice the value with P&S and Mckees

Scent:
Smells like fruit punch to me. My understanding is that they changed the scent recently, so probably not an important data point. It does smell nice.


Hand feel:

Here is where I have to be really subjective. I don't like the way the mit or rags feel on the paint. It just doesn't feel as slick as the other Rinseless washes I've used. I could absolutely be a minority with this opinion. Every time ive used it, ive had the thought: Id rather be using Absolute, DIY, or RRW. I know this is completely subjective, and that what we feel isn't necessarily what the paint feels.

Cleaning ability:

The cleaning ability is average, I wouldnt say it keeps up with things like Mckees, or espcially DIY, but seems to reasonably match Absolute, and maybe just a bit more Bug cleaning power than RRW. Hard to tell on the bug front, since I sometimes add an extra layer of protection right before a "buggy" trip



Overall, I dont think it stands out in any category. Scent is a preference, Slickness (to me) feels meh, and the cleaning ability is roughly the same as most of its competitors, and behind DIY and mckees. Once I finish this bottle it probably won't have a spot on my detailing shelf.
 
I also want to throw out there, I love ads amplify, their iron and prep sprays are also great. I am not dragging the brand
 
I agree with you for the same reasons you state, I think Hero is probably fine for a light layer of dust but doesn't stand a chance against anything bonded to the surface, at least in my world

ADS does have some nice products

closest ive ever gotten is Griots and KCX. neither has a well known long term coating :( But I would recommend either of them to my friends
 
I have not used Hero so I couldn't comment on its performance. However I do have six different rinseless washes and I am unable to discern a big difference in the performance of any of them. So logic would tell me that there is little difference in any of the "premium" brands of rinseless wash when compared to other brands.

A real ceramic coating is not something I would lump in to a particular product line and then grade that line based on the coating

I would be happy with a core lineup of products that was affordable and I could actually get without selling a kidney to pay for shipping

A pipe dream, I know

For me it comes down to choosing between a RW that either cleans safely and effectively or one that leaves a "finish" of some sort behind and I will always choose cleaning power and safety over appearance

Griots is my go to recommendation for people along with adams. The only problem with adams is their leather stuff sucks, and their interior cleaner isnt the best, it works but its middle road. if i had to pick a single brand it would be adams or KCX i think.

They all work. I feel like an Olympic ice skating judge when I try to compare them. (9.2, 9.7, 9.5)

I think both sentences you wrote answer the greater question.

For me, there are a couple of key brands that I could in theory use exclusively. Koch Chemie, Carpro or ADS.

The thing is, personal preference creeps into the equation. That means while I could happily use any of those brands exclusively, not every product in those product ranges are favorites.

So, the real question becomes, could there ever be a 100% perfect singular brand? No, because personal preference will always cloud the equation, especially when there is no real reason to buy one single brand.

Actually, I do wonder why someone would limit themselves to only one brand, as in, why miss out on finding something new, different, or better performing?

A well-rounded appraisal.

I will and have ordered Hero a few times now, which is mostly used on a car coated with ADS Quartz. From a product synergy point of view, I think that's where Hero makes the best impression. When used on other LSP's, I'd say Hero doesn't necessarily stand above other competitors. That's not knocking Hero, rather its a reflection of the huge choice we have in rinse-less products these days. Having said that, keep in mind I refuse to use rinse-less on a truly dirty vehicle.



I have to say, at moment I've been really loving Gyeon EcoWash.
 
If I had to pick one, it’d be KCX but there are outliers from other brands that I would pick over KCX.. such as MWC.. I would rather use SONAX or Adams, but MWC is perfectly fine. It’s just all preference.

I agree, they would be at or near the top of my list. No one does everything right, but some brands do more than others. The beauty is that we have so many choices, one of my favorite parts of detailing is finding new products to try.
