I want to advertise my detailing business, do you guys have any tips? What has/hasn't worked for you?

I can say one thing that is very key is word of mouth. Do a good job and people talk about it, do a bad job and even more people talk about it.

Absolutely agree. They'll either line up, or you'll be beating the bushes forever.
Offer those in charge of businesses; buildings; golf clubs a reduced detail to show your work.
hairdresser shops
medical buildings

+2 on word of mouth. It wont cost you a dime. Facebook and Twitter are also good ways to get your work seen. I do no other advertising besides having a website, Twitter and Facebook. Referrals are my bread and butter.

Word of mouth is great. It is very important that you build it BUT..... it takes too long to develop. It will come if you do good work but sounds like you need work NOW.

What you need is a marketing plan. Advertising is only one part of the plan.

Who is your target? What do they drive? Where do they go when they need detailing? Answer those questions and it will be easier to answer yours.

Word of Mouth happens faster if you help it along.
Make sure you always have plenty of business cards, and that you ask your customers to give some to their friends and recommend your work.
here is a little strategy that works wonders:
Write a page with what you want to make sure every customer knows about your service using your own words. Then use it a s guideline and PRACTICE your pitch so it sound good, once you have it down use that pitch as your message on your voicemail and ask people to leave their name, number and what service they are interested on.
That will help you make sure everyone who calls hears what you offer and helps you make sure that anyone who leaves a message is already a prospect and not just a "tire kicker".

Good luck

I think for something like this, the best way to advertise is through word of mouth. Advertising online would be good as well, as you will reach a lot of people through a good network.

You just have to do very well with those you service and let them repay you through the power of suggestion.
