Well, i am going to order a PC7424 today and was wondering about a couple things:

1. The kit i am looking at comes with an orange, white and black pads (1 ea). What is the blue used for, should i get that as well?

2. For a detail job are you fine with just one of each colour pad or do you ideally need 2?

3. I have read about the orange for cutting, white for polishing etc, but what about for removing the product, what do you use for that, bonnets?

Any other suggestions so i get the right stuff to get going (and not have to order again before starting) would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

1. Blue is a finessing pad. It's softer than the Grey finishing pad. I don't have a Blue, but it's for applying waxes, sealants (I use the Gray or by hand), a few have used it to remove/buff sealants, waxes.
2. I'd get at least 2 of each. If one gets too caked, or dirty, just switch to another instead of stopping to clean, rinse and dry it off.
3. Most do removal by hand with a MF. Cobra Indigo is a good one for that.

Good quality, soft MF's are a must have. AG sells Cobra MF's.

Consider the kit offered with Poorboys products, and pads. Its a best seller !

hmmmm, so what is the difference between a white and a grey then? or are they the same? I didn't realize there was a grey :o

So what are bonnets used for then? Do they make a microfibre one that could be used for removal?

Thanks for the info.

I was looking at your link to the bonnets. What is the difference between the cobra indigo (blue) and the cobra deluxe (orange)? Isn't microfibre all the same?

The orange MF is slightly different from the Indigo. It's more like your regular MF towels, where there is more of a "nap" to it. The Indigo is like a waffle-weave, and it has more "grab" (for lack of a better word) to it for removal of waxes. From these 2 pics, you will notice the difference in texture. For some harder to remove waxes, Indigo is a better choice. After wax removal, you could go over the the car again with the Orange bonnet, as a final buffing step. Maybe someone who uses bonnets could help more. Personally, I use the Indigo MF towel to remove the wax by hand, and then do a final buff with my Cobra Jr MF (thicker version of the orange MF).......also by hand. I hope this helps some, and I'm not confusing you even more.

Microfibers are not all the same. They have different textures, and blends. Here's a link to a chart for the different Cobra MF towels and their applications/recommended uses. Just scroll about halfway down and you'll see the huge chart.
