Advice needed to paint or not to paint?

I purchased a 2011 dodge ram, silver in color, it has a few small scratches into the primer, and has some spots of brightness under the clear coat, all are fairly difficult to see.
The dealer agreed to fix the scratches (touchup unsuccessfull) and also to fix the shadows under factory warranty. However the dealer is strongly suggesting that I do not repaint the truck because I would loose the factory paint, and that I would be more unhappy with the repaint. I am kind of a perfectionist.
The body shop estimate is for 4k, approximatly 50% repaint. (taking the money is not an option)(giving the truck back is also not an option)
So my questions are;
Is the factory paint that superior to aftermarket paint?
Should I just ignore the imperfections, and live with it as is?
Can it even be done? blending 1/2 a truck to to semi-perfection?

I somewhat trust the body shop, they are rated the best in my area. However I do not know if the dealer will use them, or if they will force the use of their shop. Shop is using 2 stage paint and clear.

Thanks for any help!

First off let me welcome you to AGO! Next let's talk about this respray. $4K for half a respray is outrageous. You are getting taken to the cleaners. It is about $4-5K for an entire respray at a good body shop. Next thing, aftermarket paint will be 10x better than stock paint in 99.9% of the cases. The problem will be there will more than likely be a ton more orange peel, but with the robots these days, there might be more orange peel from factory. This factor is just random. I would suggest you telling the dealer to cover the respray as they agreed to fix the problem properly as it is a brand new truck.

Update;

Decided to re-spray, working out the details with the manufacturer to see if they will cover the costs under warranty, and how much the dealer will have to pay to cover the scratch repairs.
Had to get another estimate from the shop because we discovered two more bright marks approximately 8 inches wide on the pass. rear quarter. This puts me at about 3/4 of the truck to be repainted or blended, and 5K. The dealer said the price is too high, so they must have some sort of pricing breaks for the dealer.
Is there anything that I should be requesting, or expecting from the paint shop?

why are they not doing a full repaint? minds well if your already at 3/4 of the truck needing it, most of the times you can tell what panels have been repainted, metalic paints are the hardest to blend correctly to match up without noticing the difference, so i bet you will notice a difference. if anything pay out of pocket to get the remaining 1/4 painted and 5grand for that is really high. sure the paint might look great but will the colors match? will the ammount of metal flake in the paint match up? theres alot of variable with repainting a panel with metallic paints. so i would just get the whole thing repainted. will look better that way vs getting it blended. good luck with your truck. the main difference between factory paint and paint at a body shop is the factory heat cures the paint, most body shops let it cure naturally.

Still hashing out the details. I was informed of 3 other 2011 trucks that have similar problems, none of them where silver. Sounds like somebody has some paint issues.
Working with chrysler HQ also, maybe some day I can be happy again.:xyxthumbs:
Dealers body shop is guessing between $1500-$2500 max, for a 3/4 respray..
