Advice on new polisher - Another thread...

Do I need a Rupes mini or can I put a 3" adapter on my PC? That way I would only be really buying one more polisher.
So the Flex vibrates much more so than the Boss?

You can put a 3" adapter on the PC but the rupes mini is far far superior and works great. I actually have done the adapters on the PC and found that the connector gets loose real quick which may result in the backing plate flying off. Very risky to say the least.

The Flex definitely vibrates more than the Boss, especially on speed 6. At that speed you can't control it so I only run it at 5 max and that is pushing it. As I stated, it depends on what is more important; if you are doing this all day every day vibration really matters but if a weekend warrior I found the time savings with the flex to be so advantageous the vibration is secondary. I also found that vibration gloves really help reduce any strain as well as ear plugs. I think your decision relates to vibration vs stalling stopping (although a lot of people maintain the Boss/Rupes with proper technique doesn't stall, which wasn't the case for me).

For a weekend warrior the Rupes system is perfect to bring out the best in your auto with the least amount of vibration and also takes away the guesswork of which polish to use with which pad. Everything is color coded. You don't have to try to remember which polish/compound goes with which pad. I have quit buying other pads and polishes for my stable of Rupes 75, 15, and 21. Now I hope Rupes will manufacture a LSP and introduce it at SEMA. Rupes is a leader in innovation and should be supported by the detailing community.

It would be cool of you could find someone near you with the machines so you can try them out.

If the Boss machines are anything like the Rupes Duetto, they should run smooth as glass.

The Flex is fine if you make sure you are running the pad flat. You may feel it "pull" on you, but usually an adjustment to the tail (up or down) will remedy any "walking" of the Flex.

3" backing plates are available for the PC.
