Advice on painted flames

No matter what is under the clear, flames, happy faces, graphics, paint, etc you can polish it. Im sure you are aware that you are working with the clear and not the actual flames. Just as long as you have enough clear to work with it is just like any other car you may have polished. There is no difference. I will tell you this, if you go all out of the flames... they sure will look awesome. :xyxthumbs:

It has clear over it, so treat it like you would any thing else? :dunno:

The paint underneath could be pink polka dots and airbrushed Hello Kitty pictures, but it is the clear on top that you will be working with. Start mild and go from there.

:props: Love the references (hello kitty, polka dots, etc...) Thanks for the info. I will defanately(sp) start mild and work from that point on.

My brother does airbrush and he was onced asked to do the face of tweety on the entire hood of a honda..... :dunno:

You'll more then likely have quite a few hits merely because it's a new Camaro sporting flames and a monster motor. Many will shy away from custom paints however paint is paint and as long it was applied correctly you should have few problems removing minor swirls and scratches.

I think there's little doubt that the flames are safe and sound beneath a clear coat. Since it's not factory I suspect you'll find it a bit softer than a factory clear that's gone through a high temperature bake.

I'm a big fan of Menzerna products. The two below should provide outstanding results when used with the proper foam pad.

Menzerna Final Finish PO85U

  • Use Menzerna Final Finish on brand new paint finishes or on vehicles in like-new condition.
Menzerna Super Finish PO106FA

  • Removes 2500 grit sanding scratches, holograms, compounding haze, light swirls, and mild oxidation. It can be used on brand new finishes or on older, reconditioned paint.

The chart below will help you understand the aggressiveness and finish for each product. You also might want to add Menzerna PO85RD as a final step polish as it will bump up the gloss a bit more.

Sorry for the delay... I'm pretty much working full time offline on pictures for my first e-book.

Time consuming...
