So I don't have access to a garage right now and my only time of shade is later in the afternoon when I get home from work so my light is limited. My cars paint is full of swirls and light scratching. I'm the 2nd owner of a black 13 Avenger. I took the pinstripe off and the goo gone ran in some places and left a white haze. I don't know what to do or where to start. I have watched countless videos but I have no idea how to use a DA.

Welcome to the world of infinite possibilities.

I'd strongly recommend looking at a DA, like the GG6 - great starter and where I began myself.

Mindboggling variety of products to choose from here - continue to research and as a starter, maybe look at M105 as a compound and M205 as a polish - start with the polish on a test spot and see how it goes with different pad choices (without seeing your car it's hard to recommend but try white, orange, LC for starters).

Just my $.02 - where are you? Maybe a forum member would be willing to assist a bit.

I'm in Va. It's overwhelming the choices of stuff. I use meguiar gold class and crystal clear car wash. 2 buckets. I've tried turtle wax black box kit. It was eh. I use meguiar spray wax which I really like along with the spray detailer. I bought meguiars polish but haven't tried it because I don't have the time or the knowledge. I was thinking of the harbor freight da because of the price and getting the 5" backing plate and pads from from chemical brothers. But like I said i don't get much shade until later in the day or the know how. There light swirls, no real major issues other then the goo gone haze.

Nothing wrong with the Harbor Freight idea and lots of threads here supporting it as an entry level machine.

I haven't used the Chemical Guys pads but there are many reasonable options for 5.5" pads out there. You could try some Meguiars Ultimate Polish which is available OTC to see if this is something you really want to pursue.

I know there are some really great forum members in VA. Maybe they'll chime in too...

That would be great if they did. I'd hate to make a bigger problem for myself. I have a garage but it's not car suitable right now. There's no driveway and I can't destroy the grass.

I hate the goo gone messed up your paint. I has used some trying to remove a dealer advertisement sticker off the back of my car and so far haven't noticed any issues, but, admittedly did not really look very carefully as I didn't expect any issues. I'll definitely check the area now just to be sure.
Regarding the Harbor Freight DA, I have one, have only used it once and very satisfied. I strongly advise against their pads and for unknown reasons I don't use their backing plate. After all those are the parts/pieces that could possibly ruin the paint finish.
I'm like you, I only have the evening hours to work on my car and hopefully it has cooled enough to do more than just wash it. I'm an old fart and after a simple washing (no tires/rims) I start feeling my aches and pains, but, I've GOT to get that DA polisher on my car but cannot figure out how to do it. When I wash my car in the evening it looks good, but, by the next morning the dew has formed and little buts and dust, grass, and other objects have attached themselves to my car. So, do you guys thing just a good rinsing and blow dry would be good enough to find a cover where I could either Iron-X or clay bar my car if I have only a short .75 mile drive and begin with the top, then the trunk, then the horizontal panels, and save the hood for last to enable the cool down. Would that dog hunt? Or would the fact it sat out all night preclude being able to do anything else to my car w/out washing it again? H E L P ! ! !

Look up JUNKMAN2000, he has some excellent vids on UTUBE showing how to use the DA. Also have you tried to work on the spots by hand? Although I strongly recommend getting a DA, sometimes you can make the needed corrections by hand.

When you get pads go with a (what they now call) thin Pad something close to 3/4 of an inch thick. Some are 11/16 some 9/16 doesn't really matter its just the ones over an 1" thick that can start to absorb most of the correction power from a entry level DA like groits or Harbor freight or Porter cable.
