AG's Warranty on Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital

My Megs went down over the weekend, the cord shorts out at the rear of the machine! I finally realized I ordered it from "ADS" they do not stand behind the warrenty at all, they give you the number to Megs to call and you have to pay for shipping! Wish I would have ordered it from AGO, such is not the case. What went wrong with your Groits machine, they are both made in China!! I wish someone would start manufacturing again here in the good old USA and do one hell of a Great Job at it, yes it may cost more but it would be worth it, Imo!! Just saying!!:buffing::hotrod2:

Actually, all you need to do is contact our returns dept and they will take care of it. We do honor the manufacturers warranty.

This is NOT what I was told over the phone when I placed my order. I don't recall who I ordered from but they were quite explicit that in a 30 day period AG would take care of it, after that I had to send it to Griots. Perhaps a company meeting is in order to get everyone on the same page. I've had no problems with the machine but if I do I'd like to know positively who to contact...... AG or Griots? It was purchased through AG.

Can someone in authority look into this and answer in this thread? I'd like to know and certainly others would who made the same purchase.

Wow, so I just got off the phone with Griots. A chick answered the phone and has already sent me an e-mail with conformation of my order plus she is sending me 2 copys of my original invoice today. I will never deal with another male when purchasing detailing supplies :nomore:

I did my research before ordering my GG6, it seems the units that fail has a "power cord" problem. you open the black end piece, tighten up all the screws, and you are good to go. Besides, I'm a heavy user (I do detailing as a side job, ordered this for cars with super soft paint), and the lifetime warranty was very appealing to me.
I tackle hard vehicles (hard clear coats) with my trusty FLEX rotary, and GG3 for tight spots!

Well, its back to the Ratary for me. I had two tough cars back to back last week that the Griots just couldn't handle. Today, without even giving it any thought I reached for ole reliable :buffing:

:bump:Does AGO, in fact, honor the warranty? I was just on the phone with Trey and he said AG only honors it for 30 days, but it seems like people were told that too and you're saying that's not correct? I have no problem going to Griot's Garage but I like dealing with AG just a smidge more. Not that their customer service is bad, I just prefer AG's :props: Any input is appreciated. Thanks! P.S. Jason, left a voicemail on your box, I know you're a busy man so anytime you can respond is fine, I'm not in too much of a rush but I'd just like to know what my options are here lol.

Did you ever find anything out? I know this thread is very old...same thing literally just happened to me...

Just call GG and explain the situation and I'm sure they'll take good care of you, maybe have them hard wire the 25' cord to your replacement machine, for a fee but still, good idea. Griot's customer service is the best I've ever experienced!!

I had a 3" Griot fail awhile back. I contacted AG and shortly after I was contacted by Griot that a new one was on the way. Upon receiving my new Griot 3" I placed the defective one in the same box, returned it with the shipping label they supplied me and buffed on. It doesn't get any easier than that.

Yeah, this is my second replacement :/ ...kind of upsetting.Thinking about getting a flex/rupes or something more durable...but right now I need to put money toward new tires lol xD

what happened originally was my speed settings stopped working and I think GG didn't replace my original machine with a new machine but rather either a) fixed mine or b) gave me a refurbished machine...because now a year after the first replacement, I can't turn the machine on without it being on speed 5 or 6, then I can sloooooowly rotate the speed knob to 3/4 for spreading polish/wax, but even that doesn't work sometimes... and sometimes it doesnt turn on at all. I figured I'd contact AGO first before going to Griot's...but if AGO won't honor the warranty I may have to go back to Griot's.

So AGO honored the lifetime warranty?

Yea, this is something that concerns me. Griots did not send a invoice with my machine. I requested on 2 different occasions for them to send me a copy. Still haven't recieved it. I can't help but wonder if they will try to jam me if and when I have an issue.

When I contacted Griot's to replace my 3" polisher, they did not question or request an invoice. They asked me to fill out a form and had me ship it in along with the form.

Will you honor Autopia Car Care purchases as well, or Autogeek's only?

MY call to AG was answered by Brian (Bryan) who advised me to contact Griot's Garage if my purchase is beyond 30 days.

Hmm..okay. Looks like it will be the easiest thing to just contact GG in the near future, then! I'm sure they'll handle the situation well! I'd still like to know, definitively, what the warranty policy is, though Feed back please

Lifetime satisfaction guaranty. I have yet to hear of anyone that Griot has refused to warranty the repair.

Yeah, they repaired mine last time without question, it was just a matter of getting a repaired (or maybe refurbished) machine back that didn't work 100%. That's why I figured I'd contact AGO, because they're always so supportive and helpful. But I'm sure GG will be very easy to deal with anyway:buffing:

Simply fill out the PDF form on Returns - Customer Service - Griot's Garage and mail it in.
Thanks!
