Air Brushing

I have wet sanded (2000 grit) my 92 Volvo in spots to get rid of some scratches and have been successful in bringing back the paint with my PC. What a wonderful tool!!

I have a coulpe of spots which I got a bit too aggressive wetsanding and got down the the what I call primer (whiteish looking area). The car is black color with no clear.

Is there a way in which to "air brush" these very small areas (maybe 1"X1") and then wet sand again and PC it back to life.

If not what are the alternatives, other than repainting the entire door/panel?

Air brush.....wet sand 2000-2500.....easy with ther PC....and you should be good to go......solid colors are a snap.......

Thanks for the tips and being a beginner and not having yet bought a air brush, do you have any tips on what air brush to buy for home use.

I am not a detailer, but a private indivdual who likes to learn and do his own work if possible.

Any websites, tips or info would be greatly appreciated for buying a spray outfit.

being overly pesimistic when it comes to touchup , I would highly suggest using a professional. Paintwork never looks good when done at the novice level.

Its an older car, solid color.....a good shot to spot paint as a novice, that's how we learn, taking it to a body shop is always final option....
... with some professional step by step advice from me, as prior auto paint shop owner /painter 14 years, he'll save a bundle........

Sorry for the delay in getting the pics.

I appreciate your help and comments and let me give you a bit of the backround on how this came about.

I bought the car a couple of months ago and it had some scratches along each of the sides.

I took it to the dealer where I leased my last car and he said he had a guy who uses a hypodermic needle to fill in these type of scratches.

I dropped the car off and when I came to pic it up it looked like I had black snakes running down each side of the car. It looked horrible!!!!

Needless to say I didnt pay him!!!!

I brought the car home and decided to try and fix it myself, so with 2000 grit I wet sanded almost all of the 25-30 areas this "professional" screwed up.

I was successful in getting most of them done and using my PC was able to bring the paint back to a wonderful life. (Black with no clear)

A couple of the areas, in the pics, I guess I got a little too aggressive with the finger while wet sanding and got down to the white.

I have traveled the world for the last 40 years and am now semi retired and love working on my car.

I will tackle most anything as long as I have enough info. Thus the reason for my comments on airbrushing, the wetsanding here on the board.

Dont take this wrong, but I can well afford to take it to a shop, but that is not the point. It is the challenge and gratification in accomplishing something.

I really appreciate everyones help and comments and will keep you posted on my progress.
