This is a referral from a friend of mine who mows the owner's grass and somehow auto detailing came into the conversation and gave him my contact information. This is this daughter's daily driver that has seen about 3 other detailers and its fair share of auto car washes. Paint was beaten, swirled, oxidized, and the hood had clear coat checking. Owner wanted it looking good again; he mentioned he used to be able to see the blue and purple flake in the paint when it was new, and wanted that back. We opted for a 2 step polish that would get it about 85-90% corrected leaving heavier RIDS.

Process:
Wash: Chemical Guys Citrus Wash + Gloss
Wheels: Chemical Guys Sticky Wheel Gel
Tires/Wells: Chemical Guys Orange Degreaser
Tires: Meguiar's Hot Shine
Wells: Chemical Guys Bare Bones
Clay: Meguiar's Aggressive Clay w/ Chemical Guys Luber
Polish: Menzerna SIP + LC Orange & Menzerna 106ff + LC White
Protection: Chemical Guys JetSeal109
Vacuum
Steam
Chemical Guys Green Clean
Stoners IG
Chemical Guys Leather Scent

Thanks for looking!

Awesome Job! What was your method of application for the many levels of paint correction and polishes?

Great job! That car came out looking amazing....Honda has a nice paint job.

Looks Great ! Did you use LASER BUFF or CGC-1 ULTRA LIGHT?? I used those on my last two paint corrections and the results were amazing.

thanks guys

I haven't used ## polishes yet. I only use Menzerna polishes and Meguiars Compounds.

Navo, how do you like that ## Sticky Gel Wheel Cleaner? What dilution of it did you use? I've been thinking about buying that stuff but I've heard it doesn't have all that much bite (even at full strength) compared to P21S Gel and other high-end wheel cleaners.

My tan civic has those little checking marks. Luckily they're not as bad as they look on black paint, but they're still there. They cover about 1/3 of the front of the hood. At first I thought they were rock chips, but they seem to be under the clear coat. I'm surprised all the civic owner haven't attacked Honda with a class action lawsuit.

Anybody have any hints or stories? I saw mention of this by another civic owner on the Meguair's forum.

I love it. It's so much cheaper than P21S Wheel Gel. I feel it works on all wheels and all amounts of brake dust I have used it on. I can use it on all aftermarket rims without etching them. I use it at 4:1 ratio with perfect results!

That clear coat is a defect from the factory, and pertains mainly to hoods and fenders. Honda has a known TSB out. On another forum people have had a repaint of the defective area's covered under warranty.

I saw the same problem on my friends Civic Si when I was detailing it. Im going have to tell him about this.
