hi fellas , i going to place an order soon and was wandering about the
LC HT pads. im going to get the 5.5" becouse i have a megs 220g DA and they say
the 5.5" are best for that. but the thickness of the pads... should i get 1 1/4" or the 7/8
im thinking smaller becouse of the lack of power in my DA machine... maybe it should rotate better. but am i wrong?
any advise will be takin'

thanx guy´s

and thanx autogeekonline for all the things i learn here!

My personal opinion would be the low profile HT pads. I have found that less pressure is required because you don't have as much foam to compress.

Get the 7/8" pads for the DA. The thinner pads have less inner motion in the pad, so the pad will have full contact with the surface that you are trying to correct.:buffing:

What's the weather like in Iceland? Hope you have a heated garage. I would think that the thinner pad would work best with your DA.

the weather is just fine now. where i am, i´ve had 3days that it´s gone below zero ,
and i have a place thats heated that i can work in but it´s a bit far from home so i cant store the car inside =(
but i hope soon to buy a garage. thanx for asking =]

yeah i think after reading alot of posts here ill get the 7/8 pads.
but im so dissapointed at my self to have just missed the holyday sale
200$ and 20% , that whould have rocked so ill just wait for now

thanx for the answers mates!

Should have a turkey day soon.

I've got the Meg's G220, and I also got the low profile 5.5" hydro-tech pads to try!

After my efforts today polishing 3/4 of my Toyota 4X4, I am extremely happy with the blue pad, it really cuts great with Menzerna PO203S, and leaves a LSP ready finish! It certainly cuts better than a LC orange flat pad, and it certainly finishes a whole heap better than one too. I have to finish off the Toyota tomorrow with the PO203S and the blue pad, then I'll still give it a hit with PO85RD.

I polished my Honda the other day with PO106FA on the tangerine pad, that was awesome too! No need for PO85RD after that one....

I was a skeptic of these pads and all the hype surrounding them, but now I'm sold. So glad I got them!

Just by coincidence, I should have a new article on this topic finished and posted today... suffice to say...

Thin is in...

The new Hydro-Tech low profile pads are thin, the Surbuf Pads are thin, the new Meguiar's Microfiber pads are really thin and I know of a few more things in the works and the theme continues...

Thin in in...

That's because thin pads rotate better when using a DA Polisher from ANY company, this is mostly important when you're trying to remove swirls, scratches and water spots BECAUSE it's only when the pad is rotating that paint is removed and it's by removing a little paint that you flatten or level out the surface and thus remove the defects.

You actually never remove below surface defects like swirls and scratches, what you really do is remove the paint surrounding them until the surface is flat. Then you polish this newly created flat surface to a clear, high gloss and then seal it with a wax or paint sealant.

Yep... thin is in and smaller pads, not larger pads are the trend...
