Alloy Wheels...Help Please

I've had my Mazda6 for awhile now and always thought I had clearcoated wheels...turns out they are alloy. Now I use DP Wheel Gel Cleaner on them and I assume it's safe. However, I have noticed a milky appearance around the edge of the rims. The wheel cleaner does not remove it. Any ideas on what I could try?...Thanks
 
Alright I'll try to take some tomorrow. It is hard to see in the light though, just splotches of a milky coloring around the edges of the rims.
 
I'm 99% sure that they are clearcoated, at least mine are on a '05. I'm thinking there may be something (maybe even the gel itself) that got under the clearcoat and you're unable to get it off.
 
coated --- polish like paint and seal
uncoated -- polish with metal cleaner and seal
 
Brace1...its entirely possible, but I just noticed (before it started to rain...NE weather sux) that I can scrape it off with my fingernail. I think what I will do is get a toothbrush and agitate the affected areas around the rim with it.
 
Suggest you try a fine grit metal polish followed by Zoop-Seal

I'm kinda new to this, but I would be very leery about any product that claims to protect "stop oxidation for 2 years". Just my 2 cp.
