I've been using Meguiars QID detailer for years and I am getting tired of the slight smell it gives off. I know Meguiars had a bad run of it which produced a really strong ammonia smell. but they claim their gallons weren't affected. Anyways I'm looking for an alternative to use. My interiors never are really dirty, I just use it for quick wipe downs. What else would you guys compare to it? I want something that leaves behind no shine.

Try Meguiars Natural Shine....matte finish, very faint clean smell. Perfect for interiors that are not really dirty

D156-x-press wax on guages, wood trim, plastics

D114 (or ONR) and opti-clean also work well.

I've bought two gallons of Meguiars D149 quick interior detailer about a year about and they both smelled like rancid vinegar. I had a customer that came to pick his car up and the smell was so gross he had decided to go back home and pick it up a few hours later. My biggest waste of money and most embarrassing situation since I started detailing. I thought it would smell similar to the consumer version (love that smell) but when I reached out to Meguiars they said that it was just the way the product smells.

Yea the gallon definitely has a horrid smell. I sprayed it in my gf's car on sunday and it still smells like it today.

Definitely a good rinseless wash solution like ONR or anything else like it. I just wipe down the interior at the rinseless dilution with a damp mf towel then give it a quick buff if needed.

Ill look into rainless wash solutions. It looks like Megs doesn't make D114 anymore, am I correct?

I don't know how much of this stuff you use, but the OTC version can be had out there in the world for a reasonable price.

It depends, there are 8 cars I can do fairly often when it gets warm out. I just wish the gallon had a better smell. If I can get a rinse less solution and dilute ir quite a bit, I am sure that will be much

People used to compare QID to Sonus Cockpit Detailer and Einzett (1Z) Cockpit Premium, but those are both more expensive.

Certainly a rinseless wash is going to be a LOT less expensive.

^^^ Quite expensive for the amount you get, but brilliant product.

Ultima waterless is another good option. I would rotate between this and D114 for quick wipedowns.

X2 on McKees Fast Interior Detailer. Great stuff, nice scent, and would be great for you based on what you say you're looking for. I find Megs Natural Shine Protectant to be very nice on some surfaces and kinda sticky on other surfaces (almost like spilled soda pop, although not nearly that bad- it definitely shines on some surfaces, others not so much).

The McKees is awesome on EVERYTHING, although you won't be left with a surface that looks like you just applied a Dressing. It'll simply look clean and like new, if the surface is good condition to begin with.

Mckees waterless wash and go is nice on interiors smells good too

I like Poorboys Natural Look Dressing it cleans and disinfect and smell good.

Meguiar's scent department is usually top notch! But, the gallon has heavy toxic vinegar smell. Reminds me of the old DP interior cleaner that smelled like vinegar with a hint of banana.

To burn through my 1.5 gallons, I spray directly onto the towel outside of the car. That way the smell is not as bad.

It looks like a rinseless wash solution is the way to go. Meguiar's doesnt seem to make the 114 from the research I've been doing. For any interiors in need of a serious cleaning (my guys at work always get into the work trucks dirty and greasy), I use Megs APC

Meguiars doesn't do D114, but McKee's picked up where they left off with N-914. Just watch the front page, and positive reviews keep rolling in for it.

As a hobbyist, I've had good luck with with Griot's interior detailer. Very similar in performance to meguiars quick interior detailer, and a light pleasant scent. Not sure if it comes in gallons, and I'm sure a rinseless would be cheaper anyway.

Yeah, take a look at McKee's lineup. They are steadily becoming my top product club. Outstanding results & attractive price point.
