I just got some new microfiber towels that came today. Just curious...As a rule, do you always wash new towels before first use? Or do you just inspect them and use them right out of the bag?

Good rule of thumb wash first but I have on occassion used a new unwashwed towel. Remember to was seperately.

I never wash them and I never have had an issue. I figure if a MF towel is good for X # of washes, why waste one?

I have always used them right out of the bag, their more likely to pick up contamination during the washing process.

i always wash new mf before each use. there may be manufacturing residue left over because new mf has some static in it and may have attracted dust and dirt. i can tell the difference in feel from out of the package and after the first wash. store your mf in ziplocs to keep containments off the towels

I always wash them too. One simple wash when they don't have much of anything on them won't do them any harm

I always wash, gets rid of any leftover lint from the manufacturing process as well as anything that could've gotten on them during shipping and handling.

I completely agree. I wash mine in Charlie's Soap left over from when the wife wanted to do cloth baby diapers (that lasted all of two weeks). It does an incredible cleaning job and rinses clean of any detergents plus cheaper than dedicated detail rag washes.

I always wash first. One you get one that lints, you will wash first also!
