am I charging too much??

That doesn't sound like friends to me. Sounds like they are taking advantage of your situation instead of supporting you. I have a few friends who can't afford a full detail and still give me solid word of mouth. They should not only pay full price but throw down a nice tip as well as they know a 'true' friend is not gonna scam them and, in all respects, go above and beyond for them. F@ck the moochers and free loaders always looking to save a nickel. The simple fact that you are out trying to make something for yourself should be enough for their business.

Don't sell yourself short and NEVER let them think you don't have any better options. Its called the "scarcity principle" Look it up and never become that guy.

My details start at $200 and I believe that is even to low. But on the same note, you better be able to back up your talk. Good luck to you as you sound like a good guy. Just keep in mind 'nice guys' usually end up getting rolled over. Set your price and keep it. If they don't like it tell thm to take their ass to the local Express Wash. I hear Tyrone does a killer job stripping your clear coat there ;)

Only people I give a discount to are repeat customers,my mother and wife. If they get more than one service at a time, I lower the total price. ie detail, odor removal, headlight restoration.I know way too many people to give friend discounts. I'd go under quick!

you charge your mom and your wife?? WTF?!?! Better be a FREE discount. lol

Your location has a lot to do with pricing as well. Southern California detailers will most likely make more per vehicle than folks in Fargo. Take a look at your competitors prices and charge accordingly. The thought of gifting your details for friends and family to gain experience is a good one, throwing holograms on a customers vehicle straight out of the gate ain't good. When we're experimenting with a new product or tool we hit the junkyard for a decent looking piece of metal, then have at it. Good Luck!
