an autogeeks most feared time of year - christmas tree on the roof

My wife wanted a real tree this year and I said there is no way in hell you're putting that on the roof of your car.

...turns out Bachmans delivers them! Arrived this Saturday! :)

Nice!

Growing up my family always had a fake tree. When I met my wife that was the last I ever saw of a fake tree. For the last 14 years it was a nice fresh tree. She was very insistant and I love it as well. Missy used to come pick it out with us and now Bella does.

One year we picked one out so large I had to install guyed wires to keep it up! Man that was funny (now)... Luckily when we moved our new house had lower ceilings and wouldn't allow that size of tree. Otherwise I'd be stuck battling that monster every year! Im the MAN

How tall was that tree? Guide wires?

Im pretty good at picking trees for our house. The one I picked this year was just an inch or so too tall. Clipped two inches off the top and its perfect.

The room smells great too. Having a real tree is kind of annoying picking up all the needles and such. But I would rather deal with that than getting a fake tree.

I agree! I love the smell and watching Bella discipline my cat every time she tries to climb it.

Guy wires are tensioned wire cables used to stabilize some types of structures. In the case of my tree I was just using rope lol.

I don't recall how tall it was but it had to be about 12 feet. I had to tie it off to 2 places to stabilize it. I would have tied a third but that would have ended up in the middle of the room and been a trip hazard. :) The stand was one of the large round ones but it still wasn't stable.

Why do you guys put them on the paint when you can just put it in the trunk with the rear seats down?

:iagree:

I also found this method one of the best ways to transport Christmas trees, thereby saving my vehicle's roof paint from incurring " the most marring" of incidents.

I use a big fluffy blanket that covers the entire roof. 2-3 layers of blanket and no worries. Just make sure it's strapped down well so that if you stop suddenly the tree doesn't make a break for it.
