I see Angie's List on TV, seem like a way people can comment/complain about a business whether the business is right or wrong. Can a business thank/disagree with the customer statements?
Anyone have any dealing with this Andie's List?

Most of your questions can be answered at www .angieslist .com

You only get listed (apparently) if someone who is a member writes a review, which is NOT anonymous supposedly limiting the flakes.

They say companies do get a chance to respond to reports and there is a complaint resolution process for people who believe they got bad service.

All from their FAQs. I'm not a member and not (AFIAK) listed yet in my local one.

Uh Oh...What have you guys done now! J/K :)

IMO...Sometimes getting "commented" about via Angie's List often equates in a person, place or thing: Receiving results that are questionable, and circumstantial, by nature, to say the least.

Hope I don't ever have that pleasure bestowed upon myself, or anyone I personally know.

No excuses....Just how I feel about yet another "social network".

I probably wouldn't bother with Angies list. It's an all for profit business. From what I was told companies pay to be listed on there and you also have to pay to view reviews on companies. I would rather save your money and look up real reviews on other free sites or ask for recommendations around town.
I tried to sign up and look at reviews, but didn't pay the fee. Now I just get a bunch of emails saying "Discount on this or that place". So obviously companys are paying to advertise on there and offer customers discounts.
just did some googling and numerous people have stated this.
Angies List - Angie's List Is A Scam.

Comes down to whether you're willing to pay a monthly fee to read about businesses in your area that may or may not be listed there...and if they happen to be listed will you believe what's written?

I always figured the BBB is the best resource for consumers, not a for profit website like another said here. always another scheme out there looking for the quick/big buck that we can do without! ;)

Nothing wrong here, we're good (at least as far as we know :xyxthumbs:). We were doing a detail at a customers house, and met this guy that has a window washing business. He was telling us we want to get set up with Angie's List. I checked out the website, seem more like a scam. Reminds me of those sites that bash people personally i.e. "don't date that guy/girl". I feel A/L can hurt good business's. Let's face it, some people are never happy, and just like to complain.
Just wondered if anyone has gained business from this site?

Absolutely worthless. I filed a complaint, the company responded saying they intended to take care of the problem, case closed. A-rating maintained. Filed another complaint when the contractor didn't perform and wouldn't even return my calls. Same thing, contractor responded with intent to remedy the situation. Case closed upon response, A-rating maintained, contractor never performed.

IMO, BBB membership may be valuable to a business so they can hang a shingle in their office and advertise being a member but other than that the organization serves no useful purpose for anyone.

Not a fan of BBB. Angies list is a fair place to rate businesses, plus a great marketing tool, if you can make your customers happy. I've had my company as a member for about 6 months. It makes you take your customer service to the next level to ensure good reviews from those that are members. It's generated quite a few jobs for my company so far. Haven't had to fight the battle of a bad review yet, but it definitely keeps you on your toes. I went back and forth and weighed the benefits against the potential problems and, again, it's worked out well so far. It's very similar to the BBB, but instead of just the businesses paying for membership, both parties pay to be involved.

70chevelle,
Do you have to be a member in order for a customer to write reviews about a business?
