I'm attending a large car show and will be meeting up with 40+ friends from across the country to show off our cars. A lot of the guys are big fans of Liquid Glass. I'm a Pinnacle fan and what to make sure I'm getting all that I can out of the factory paint.

My car is a black 2007 GT500 that is a garage queen. I'm getting ready to wash it for the first time this year and need help to decide what else is needed.

It has been a full calendar year since I did paint correction, followed by Pinnacle Black Label sealant and top coated with Pinnacle Souverign liquid. I've noticed some swirl marks that need to be addressed. It seems no matter how careful I am, using spray, ultra soft MF; I still get them. I'm not sure if I should go over the entire car again. happy to do it if I need to.

What would you recommend to make this black beauty really pop? I need to quiet the Liquid Glass guys :)

In my arsenal, PC742, variety of CCS pads, Pinnacle swirl remover, Polish, liquid wax, Black Label sealant.

Any help would be appreciated

I would be hesitant to compound it again, but perhaps polish to remove some of the light swirls that have found their way back. In the future, you might also want to consider a coating, as they might be more resistant to getting swirls.

Souveran paste wax is outstanding for a show car, but I would not do it day of show. I would do it at least a day or two before. It has a 24-48 full curing time that seems to amplify the gloss. I have noticed after I use it on my garage queen, a few days later its even shinier than it was right after application.

Thank you for the feed back!

Is there a noticeable difference in the Pinnacle paste vs liquid? I need to see how small of a container of paste I can get as this would be the only car I would use it on. Wonder if they offer small sample size for purchase?

Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax

I would still get the full size pot. You can probably get about 10 applications out of the mini, or 25 from the full size.

I think there is a difference between the liquid and the paste. I think there is a warmness and extra gloss from paste wax that liquids cannot duplicate. A lot of this might be my imagination. But using the paste alone, especially Souveran is so pleasurable that alone makes it worthwhile.

I'm all for it, IF there is a difference. Would prefer not to purchase the paste if I won't see the difference.

I'm curious as well if the paste would give a better depth of shine, I think the souveran liquid wax has polymers in it which might make it not shine as well as pure carnauba wax? Or are the polymers there to make the liquid last longer?

I used Blackfire black ice paste wax right before dropping our 62 Chrysler 300 H off at Mecum last year. It seemed that it had some filling ability as the car looked fantastic under the harsh lights of the auction block.

That's a nice ride you have there. I've been toying with the idea of buying one. 05~09

Its hard to say if YOU will see a difference. People see things differently.

I know I see a difference. For a show car / garage queen, Souveran Paste wax is the way to go.

I think paste waxes due to the nature of them being solid, need less "carriers" and can use more oils and a higher amount of carnuba that add to them having that deeper wetter shine than a liquid.

I think in general a paste wax will have a warmer glow than any liquid, but its probably certainly the case of Souveran. That is a paste wax by which many others are measured.

Just to add, if there is a criticism of Souveran Paste Wax is its durability. People have complained it does not last long. I only use it on my garage queen, and its the only thing I use on it, and whenever I take it out of the garage and wash it, water glides off relentlessly. It is probably not the best wax for a daily driver, but for a show car, its is awesome!

There are several low mileage 07-09 GT500 out there. IMO the standard GT 05-09 is a sharp looking car. If you plan to mod it much, you might as well by the GT500 as it will have those mods standard.

Thank you for the compliment!

I always want to ask where the wax goes when people say it doesn't last long, especially on a garage queen.

I wonder if the paste would give me better protection when using the car cover in regard to preventing micro scratches?

Wax doesn't form enough of a sacrificial barrier to guard against actual things like car covers abrading the paint, IME.

More on topic, when I need that extra bit of pop(and the paint is properly decontaminated and polished) I usually put on a glaze before I put on the LSP. Poorboys Black Hole and CG Blacklight are two very good ones. Here are a couple black cars I've done, one topped with BFWD and the other with Souveran:

On a garage queen, it wont wear away that much. Thats why I mentioned on my car the protection seems to be ever lasting. Its the sun and being exposed to the elements is what wears away protection and ages cars.

It wont help on any micro scratching though. A good car cover should not cause any scratching, especially in the garage.

Great work on those cars! Can't believe how good they look for being a DD.

I detailed the mustang this weekend. I'm not sure if it is due to bring a calendar year, but the paint didn't have that slick finish I was accustom to. I used a car shampoo from Adam's that was a gift. I can't believe it would actually remove the Black Label sealant. I put on a later of Soveran liquid. It looks okay, but IMO it doesn't pop. Maybe I have too high of expectations. I don't think I will truly get it to pop until I do something about the horrible amount of orange peel in the factory paint.
