I just detailed a 1970 Chevelle with a custom paint job. I used my Hitachi @ 1500-1700 with my new orange CCS pad and Ill be damned it didnt do the trick. While it removed quite a bit it didnt finish it off all the way. Maybe I was asking too much.

I started with Megs products... so if you had to compare 106FFs cut to one of the Megs lines... what would it be? If I wouldnt have had my 106FF on hand I deffinately would have started with #83... then to #80. Did I expect too much from the 106FF?

Thanks.

You need to turn in to 3.5 to 4000...at least that is what I have been told  Feed back please

4,000 RPM? That's WAY too fast. I think you are thinking of the PC which needs to be turned way up to get it to do anything. If you read some threads where people use a rotary you'll see no one ever turns it up more than 1,500 RPM. Occassionally, you'll hear about people turning it up to 2,000 RPM but most use it pretty close to 1,000 RPM. Keep in mind RPM for rotary buffers is a totally different speed measure than OPM (orbits per min.) for orbital buffers like the PC.

He was using a rotary not a PC, never go above 1800 rpms. Its hard to rate the polish as ceramiclear in design but finishes as a final polish with one of the highest gloss ratings. Maybe a more abrasive pad, or repolish is needed.

If you need to strip the paint off, then yeh, 4K rpm is good;)

Avengence - pics of 70' Chevelle!!! We sold our 70' LS6, friend still has theirs especially after $$ value rocketed up.

I have used 106FF for a few years now an have never been let down by it. if the swirls were severe it may have been too much. with a rotary I have done some awesome work with 106FF as a one step polish on black. You could always use some #83, OC or IP on the orange pad in a test area. one thing to note , I use less polish than you would think. I have not use Meg polish in a while but would say it would be on par with #80 if I remember correct. and if for some reason you want to ditch the 106FF...... you can always contact me to buy it from you ;)

DOH! That is what I meant!:p

[FONT=arial, verdana]PO106FF is designed to remove very fine (3000 grit) swirls and blemishes in the new super-hard clear coats yet is still safe for use on conventional clear coats.

What did you expect the product to do? I've heard this is one of the better polishes out there, but in no way is designed to remove deep swirls, scrathes etc. Much more like Klasse AIO with a better finish...

Oooofffff.... sold a LS6 Chevelle!!!!!? That hurts! :D

Heres some after pics.. sorry they are a little dark but I ran out of daylight and after being there for 10hrs I just wanted to head home. This customer was over an hour drive from my house.

Ive determined that 1) the clear on the Chevelle was pretty hard and 2) the swirls were a lot worse then 106FF could handle by iteself. Problem is I couldnt dig to hard into that paint because it was custom.. and the customer told me him and his friend did the paint. After seeing a few paint imperfections, like some bubbles, I decided not to press my luck. The customer aggreed and we went with one pass of the 106FF and then LSP with #21.

Awsome!! And yes, it's hurts lol :( , moved from old house to new house and went from big garage to normal 2 car so had to get rid of quite a few. I want to find an old muscle car, but to be different if I go with a Chevelle I'd like to go custom on the 65/66 body, I like that style a lot. Just a nice street/strip cruiser, nothing wild, 383 stroker, manual trans etc is what I'm thinking.

Thanks! No 'nuba... just #21. Like nick19 said, #21 is REALLY good stuff just by itself.

Surfer.. I come from a family that had all kinds of rare muscle cars and Ill tell you what a LS6 Chevelle is one of my top 5 favorites... along with a 71 Hemi Cuda, 69 Z28 DZ302, and a few other Camaro variants. My uncle had a 71 Elcamino SS with a LS5.. apparently it was pretty rare too. Sucker sold it though... it was a sad day. :(

I like carnauba to protect the finish form bird dropping. Carnauba has oils, which makes it far more resistant then synthetic (with exception of Klasse SG, Duragloss, and Zaino. These are extremely durable).

Looks sweet but what is PO106FF? I can't seem to find it anywhere? I am a nOOb!

PO106FF is one of Menzerna professional polishes. Where to find it? That's what google is for.

It also comes in one size; 32oz. Nothing smaller, nothing bigger. That's the only size being imported into the U.S of A. Although I am going to be picking up two some day.. pretty rare item..

I didn’t see it in the Acronym list…so that is why I asked! And forget Google when I have this forum to answer my questions!

How come you all like the 106FF, the 85RD has same gloss and lower cut. I would think that maybe you should use or 85RD3.01 first then 85RD for swirls...the 106FF is realing only a finishig polish to remove slight marring...

Or better yet the Power Gloss for larger swirls then the 85RD...

I like 85RD better but have both. Unfortunately it is not imported into the US any longer.
