Hello. My name is Travis. I am up here in Oregon. I have been reading on here for about two months and figured it is time to join. Just ordered a few things from AG and noticed they had a forum, so I jumped right on in. Most of my time is spent under neath the hood of my race car (drag race that is). Just got done washing it this past weekend and noticed the light swirls and scratches probably from trying to rub the rubber from the slicks off the body panels, haha. So I thought maybe its time to start caring for the exterior as well rather than the engine.

Paint is 2 years, has always had a coat of wax on it since it left the body shop (after 60 days of course). It has seen rain for two minutes of its total life. But I thought its time for some Menz nano and if needed SIP along with some other stuff. Oh yeah....it is BLACK. Some things that I wish I wouldn't have done, haha.

Also, I have been washing the car with RainX carnuba car wash soap, but thinking about getting some ONR. How tough is the ONR? The RainX seems to remove the caked-on rubber without scrubbing too hard and getting more swirls.

ONR is not going to remove rubber lol, Summit sells (or sold) a silicon based spray that you could spray on your panels to help prevent tar from sticking to paint.
Also if RainX car soap can removing tar, it's probably taking off wax like butta lol.
 
if i wash the car right outta the trailer after a trip to the dragstrip, the rubber is still soft and a car wash gets most off. if i wait over night, its totally baked on the car. and to be honest, i wax the car after every single wash, have not missed one time.

thank you for the info about the summit stuff. i have heard of people spraying pam on the side of their car, but just haven't not tried that.
 
Welcome to AG. Some ceran wrap and painters tap helps stoppin the rubber from touching the paint.
 
Haha, that would look really nice out there on the track. cover the car with ceran wrap. Thank you for the idea.
 
Welcome man. You're definitely going to want that SIP/Nano combo...it'll really bring out that black. How about some pictures :D!!

haha, we have only ran the car down the track at a little over 450. but the car was dynoed at 746 whp. we are having trouble with traction so just been playing with the boost control to control the ramp of boost down the track.

746 to the wheels? that's it? just kidding holy frickin crap, those motors are bullet proof. was that a swap? k19? I don't know hondas very well so bare with me.
 
nice to see another honda guy. i'm new as well and really new to detailing. kept it street legal?
 
:welcome:Welcome to AGO. Your racecar looks great. Griots sells a 3M Adhesive Cleaner, I'm not sure that that will work, the picture shows wiping black stuff off the fender just behind a wheel, could be tire parts, dirt, oil, road (track) tar, sap, etc. Good luck getting the car dialed in. Feel free to ask any questions you may have lots of people are here to help.
 
haha, yeah only 746, but like i said we have only ran up to 11 psi on the track and cant hook up. so why up the boost? its just a 2.0L b-series motor. the block is from an integra gsr and the head is from a civic si. as long as you keep the air/fuel ratio under 12:1, these motors will live forever, revving 10k.

memphis, yes my main goal was to keep it street legal as possible,. it is not street friendly due to the 1000 lb rear springs, 4" straight exhaust, and expensive gas, but it is street legal.

squeakyclean, thank you for the welcome. i will look into that 3m cleaner for sure. like mentioned, the rainx with a nice mf mitt seems to get most of the rubber off if i wash it that same day when going to the track without actually putting any elbow grease in it or going over it twice. but if i do wait, its very tough and usually requires scrubbing and washing multiple times. now that i got it all off this past winter, i would like to find a preventative way to keep the rubber more loosely on the car.
